History on a Pinhead

On an unnumbered county road between Dawson and Purdon, Babylon was founded by former slaves. A church was formed in the mid-1890s and a school was opened around 1900.

Babylonians traded in Dawson, or Purdon, but after WWII most all residents moved away. Detailed TxDoT maps of Navarro County do not even show a place name or a cemetery. (See Forum below)

Subject: Babylon, Navarro County, Texas - Lost Cemetery

My family lived in the Purdon - Dawson area since before the turn of the century or pretty close to it. When I read about Babylon it gave me a real start. There is a cemetery out there, (Younger?), and one time when my Dad had taken me out there to view family graves, I did a little looking around. The cemetery is fenced in and on the other side of the fence, (it would be the left side as you come in the gate), in among the trees, were headstones! I asked my Dad why they were buried outside the cemetery and his answer was "That isn't outside the fence, that is the black section of the cemetery." I felt so sad at the time, but this morning when I read that nothing was left of Babylon, not even a cemetery - I just knew I might have the answer to that. Could this be a lost cemetery? Those graves out there in the trees always bothered me. Please, could someone look into it? There are a couple of other cemeteries out there but I can't remember their names and their exact locations - Younger is the only one I can think of.
