Dressy, Texas, Callahan County. (original) (raw)
History in a Pecan Shell
There is little history for Dressy. Established sometime prior to the 1870s, it gained prominence as a ranching center and had a post office in operation from 1899 until Januaty 1912.
The population was a mere 22 people in 1903 and nothing is known about the 1930s - only that by 1940 15 people were still living there. Just after WWII the population was given as 50 - evidently the town's high-water mark. All that remains of Dressy today is the town cemetery.
