History in a Pecan Shell

The town was born with the arrival of the Pecos Valley and Northern Texas Railroad around 1910. The name was a hopeful one. The hills had been producing gold-colored ore for years, however, the ore held no value.

The only two population figures available are from the 1940 census when 100 residents were reported there and the 1980 figure of 30 � which has been in use through 2010.
