Traditional Fine Arts Organization (TFAO) is a non-profit organization dedicated to furthering education in American art through advocacy, publications and research. A special TFAO emphasis is building an archive of significant texts, authored by scholars and other informed individuals, beneficial for the study of art history in the United States.

After checking our files, I have discovered that we lack any formal copyright paperwork, other than the catalog itself.

In light of this, we ask that you contact the executor of Donelson Hoopes's estate for permission. His name is Joerg-Henner Lotze. He is the director of the Humboldt Field Research Institute/Eagle Hill Foundation in Steuben, Maine, to which Mr. Hoopes left part of his estate.

If Mr. Lotze says it's okay for you to use the essay, then it's okay with Skowhegan, provided the author, Skowhegan, and the publication are properly credited.
