Michael Francis Morris Lindsay, 2nd Baron Lindsay of Birker was born on 24 February 1909.1 He was the son of Alexander Dunlop Lindsay, 1st Baron Lindsay of Birker and Erica Violet Storr.1 He married Hsiao Li, daughter of Colonel Li Wen-Chi, on 25 June 1941.1 He died on 13 February 1994 at age 84.1
He was educated at Gresham's School, Holt, Norfolk, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Balliol College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He was a lecturer in 1937 at Yenching University, Peking, China.2 He gained the rank of officer between 1942 and 1945 in the 8 Route Army, North China.2 He was a visiting lecturer between 1946 and 1947 at Harvard University, Cambridge, Massachusetts, U.S.A.G.2 He was Lecturer between 1948 and 1951 at University College, Hull, Yorkshire, EnglandG.2 He was Senior Fellow between 1951 and 1959 at Australian National University, Canberra, A.C.T., AustraliaG.2 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Lindsay of Birker, of Low Ground, co. Cumberland [U.K., 1945] on 18 March 1952.1 He was Professor of Far Eastern Studies in 1959 at American University, Washington, D.C., U.S.A.2
