He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 9th Lancers.1 He was awarded the Knight, Order of the Lion and Sun of Persia 2nd class.2 He was Seigneur of Argenteuil, Quebec.1 He was Quarternaster-General of the Ireland.2

Sir John Johnson, 2nd Bt. was born on 5 November 1741 at Amsterdam, New York, U.S.A.2 He was the son of Sir William Johnson, 1st Bt. and Catherine Weisenberg.3,4 He married Mary Watts, daughter of John Watts, on 30 June 1773.3 He died on 4 January 1830 at age 88.3
He was Superintendant-General and Inspector-General Indian Affairs, British North America.3 In 1765 Knight.3 He was Colonel-in-Chief, six battalions of militia of eastern township of Lower Canada.3 He succeeded as the 2nd Baronet Johnson, of New York, in North America [G.B., 1755] on 11 July 1774.1 He held the office of Member of the Legislative Council (M.L.C.) [Lower Canada] in 1796.2 He lived at Mount Johnson, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.3
