Major Hon. Gavin George Carew was born on 21 September 1906.2 He was the son of Gerald Shapland Carew, 5th Baron Carew and Catherine Conolly.2 He married Aileen Hilda Frances Cecil, daughter of Ean Francis Cecil and Hilda Mary Daubeny Wemyss, on 30 April 1932.2 He died on 11 October 1997 at age 91.2
He was educated at Clifton College, Clifton, Bristol, EnglandG.2 He fought in the Second World War, in the Western Desert, Italy, Belgium and Germany, and was mentioned in depstaches.2 He was awarded the U.S. Legion of Merit.2 He gained the rank of Major in the County of London Yeomanry.2 He was appointed Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1945.2 He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.) in 1956.2
