Henry Nicholas Middleton was born on 27 July 1845.1 He was the son of Charles Atticus Monck and Laura Ridley.2 He married Sophia Elizabeth Meredith, daughter of Sir William Colles Meredith and Sophia Maiters Holmes, on 7 March 1872.1 He died on 6 December 1928 at age 83.1
He was given the name of Henry Nicholas Monck at birth.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the Rifle Brigade.1 On 12 February 1876 his name was legally changed to Henry Nicholas Middleton.1 He held the office of Vice-Chairman of the Northumberland County Council.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Roxburghshire.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Northumberland.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Northumberland.1
