Frederick Cornwallis, 1st Baron Cornwallis of Eye was born on 14 March 1610.1 He was the son of Sir William Cornwallis and Jane Meautys.2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Ashburnham, daughter of Sir John Ashburnham and Elizabeth Beaumont, Baroness of Cramond, circa 1630.3,2 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Crofts, daughter of Sir Henry Crofts, before 1641.2 He died on 31 January 1661/62 at age 51.1 He was also reported to have died on 7 January 1661/62.2
He was created 1st Baronet Cornwallis [England] on 4 May 1627.1 He was appointed Knight in 1630.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Eye from April 1640 to May 1640.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Eye between November 1640 and September 1642.2 He fought in the Battle of Cropedy Bridge on 30 June 1644.2 In 1648 he was fined £800 by Parliament.2 He held the office of Treasurer of the Household from 1660 to January 1661/62.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Ipswich between October 1660 and December 1660.2 He was created 1st Baron Cornwallis of Eye, Suffolk [England] on 20 April 1661.2

James Ley, 1st Earl of Marlborough3

James Ley, 1st Earl of Marlborough was born in 1552.4 He was the son of Henry Ley and Dyonisia de St. Mayne.5 He married, thirdly, Hon. Jane Boteler, daughter of John Boteler, 1st Baron Boteler of Brantfield and Elizabeth Villiers.1 He married, firstly, Mary Pettie, daughter of John Pettie and Elizabeth Snape, before 1593.6 He married, secondly, Mary Pierson, daughter of Thomas Pierson, circa 13 February 1617/18.6 He died on 14 March 1629.4
He gained the title of 1st Earl of Marlborough. He was educated at Brasenose College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.5 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Westbury in 1597/98.5 He held the office of Lord Chief Justice of the King's Bench [Ireland] in 1604.5 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Westbury in 1604/5.5 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Westbury in 1609/10.5 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Bath in 1614.5 He was created 1st Baronet Ley on 15 July 1619. He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) in 1624.5 He held the office of Lord High Treasurer between 1624 and 1628.4 He was created 1st Baron Ley, of Ley, co. Devon on 31 December 1624.
