Sir Maurice Berkeley was born circa 1436.1 He was the son of James de Berkeley, 1st Lord Berkeley and Lady Isabel de Mowbray.1 He married Isabel Meade, daughter of Philip Meade and Isabel (?), in 1465.1 He died in September 1506.1 He was buried at Austin Friars, London, EnglandG.1
Sir Maurice Berkeley also went by the nick-name of Maurice 'the Lawier'.1 He held the office of Knight of the Body, to King Edward IV.1 He succeeded as the 3rd Lord Berkeley [E., 1421] on 14 February 1491/92, by writ, de jure.1

Sir Maurice Berkeley was born in 1467 at Thornbury, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.1 He was the son of Sir Maurice Berkeley and Isabel Meade.1 A contract for the marriage of Sir Maurice Berkeley and Katharine Berkeley was signed on 28 January 1484/85.2 He died on 12 September 1523 at Calais, FranceG, without legitimate issue.1 He was buried at Trinity Chapel, Parish Church, Calais, FranceG.1 His will was proven (by probate) on 28 November 1523.1

Henry Berkeley, 7th Lord Berkeley was born posthumously on 26 November 1534.2 He was the son of Thomas Berkeley, 6th Lord Berkeley and Anne Savage.2 He married, firstly, Lady Katherine Howard, daughter of Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey and Lady Frances de Vere, in September 1554 at Kenninghall, Norfolk, EnglandG.2 He married, secondly, Jane Stanhope, daughter of Sir Michael Stanhope and Ann Rawson, on 9 March 1597/98 at St. Giles, Cripplegate, London, EnglandG.2 He died on 26 November 1613 at age 79 at Callowdon, Warwickshire, EnglandG.2 He was buried at Berkeley, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.2 His will was proven (by probate) on 2 February 1613/14.2
Henry Berkeley, 7th Lord Berkeley also went by the nick-name of Henry 'the Harmlesse'.2 He succeeded as the 7th Lord Berkeley [E., 1421] on 26 November 1534.2 He was appointed Knight, Order of the Bath (K.B.) on 28 September 1553.2 On 13 May 1555 he had special livery of his lands, by Royal Warrant, including Berkeley Castle.2 He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Gloucestershire between 1603 and 1613.2 His last will was dated 20 December 1612.

From before 1590, her married name became Townshend.1 From 9 March 1597/98, her married name became Berkeley.1 Her last will was dated 20 July 1617.

George Berkeley, 1st Earl of Berkeley was born circa 1627.2 He was the son of George Berkeley, 8th Lord Berkeley and Elizabeth Stanhope.1 He was baptised on 23 April 1627 at St. James's, Clerkenwell, London, EnglandG.3 He married Elizabeth Massingberd, daughter of John Massingberd and Cecilia Pettit, on 11 August 1646 at Morden, Surrey, EnglandG.2 He died on 14 October 1698.2 He was buried at Cranford, London, EnglandG.2 His will was proven (by probate) on 19 December 1698.2
He was educated at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, EnglandG.1 He succeeded as the 9th Lord Berkeley [E., 1421] on 10 August 1658.1 He held the office of Custos Rotulorum of Gloucestershire between 1660 and 1689.1 He was a member of the Committee of the East India Company between 1660 and 1697.1 He was appointed Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.) on 20 May 1663 one of the original members.1 He was Governor of the Levant Company between 1673 and 1696.2 He was appointed Privy Counsellor (P.C.) on 17 July 1678.2 He was created 1st Earl of Berkeley, co.
