Elizabeth Massingberd1

Elizabeth Massingberd was the daughter of John Massingberd and Cecilia Pettit.1 She married George Berkeley, 1st Earl of Berkeley, son of George Berkeley, 8th Lord Berkeley and Elizabeth Stanhope, on 11 August 1646 at Morden, Surrey, EnglandG.1 She died circa December 1708.1 She was buried on 10 December 1708 at Cranford, London, EnglandG.1 Her will (dated 26 August 1706) was proven (by probate) on 20 December 1708.1
Her married name became Berkeley. After her marriage, Elizabeth Massingberd was styled as Countess of Berkeley on 11 September 1679.

Sir Harry Burrard, 1st Bt. was born in 1707.1 He was the son of Paul Burrard and Lucy Dutton Colt.1 He married, firstly, Alicia Snape, daughter of John Snape, in 1731.1 He married, secondly, Mary Frances Clarke, daughter of James Clarke, in 1754.1 He died on 12 April 1791, without surviving issue.1
He held the office of Gentleman Usher on 27 February 1728, to the Prince of Wales.1 He held the office of Collector of the Customs of London.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lymington between 1741 and 1778.1 In 1742 he purchased Walhampton Manor.2 He was created 1st Baronet Burrard, of Walhampton, co. Southampton [Great Britain] on 3 April 1769, with a special remainder to his brothers.1

Hon. Elizabeth Carey was born on 24 May 1576.1 She was the daughter of George Carey, 2nd Baron Hunsdon of Hunsdon.1 She was baptised on 7 June 1576.2 She married Sir Thomas Berkeley, son of Henry Berkeley, 7th Lord Berkeley and Lady Katherine Howard, on 19 February 1595 at Blackfriars, London, EnglandG.2,1 She died on 23 April 1635 at age 58.2 She was buried on 25 April 1635.1
From 19 February 1595, her married name became Berkeley.2 In 1618 she purchased the estat eof Cranford, Middlesex for £7,000 from the coheirs of Sir Richard Aston.1

George Carey, 2nd Baron Hunsdon of Hunsdon was born before 1556.1 He was the son of Henry Carey, 1st Baron Hunsdon of Hunsdon and Ann Morgan.1 He married Elizabeth Spencer, daughter of Sir John Spencer and Katherine Kitson, on 29 December 1574, by licence from the Archbishop of Canterbury.1 He died on 8 September 1603, without male issue.3 His will was proven (by probate) on 27 September 1603.3
He was appointed Knight on 11 May 1570 for his military services at Berwick.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Hertfordshire in 1571.1 He held the office of Marshal of the Queen's Household on 18 March 1580/81.1 He held the office of Knight Marshal and Captain of the Isle of Wight between 1582 and 1603.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Hampshire between 1584 and 1587.1 He was Vice-Admiral of the Southampton Fleet on 2 February 1585/86.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Hampshire from 1588 to 1589.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Hampshire in 1593.1 On 1 April 1594 he bought the site of the disused monastery of Clerkenwell from Walter Blount.1 He succeeded as the 2nd Baron Hunsdon of Hunsdon, co. Anne Savage was born circa 1506. She was the daughter of Sir John Savage and Anne Bostock.1 She married Thomas Berkeley, 6th Lord Berkeley, son of Thomas Berkeley, 5th Lord Berkeley and Eleanor Constable, in April 1533.1 She died in October 1564 at Callowdon, Warwickshire, EnglandG.1 She was buried at St. Michael's, Coventry, Warwickshire, EnglandG.1 She died intestate and her estate was administered on 21 January 1564/65.1
From April 1533, her married name became de Berkeley.1
Gibbs records that she was "overpowerful with her husband and seldom at rest with herself... Of complexion of a comely brown, of a middle stature. Betimes in winter and summer mornings, she would make her walks to visit her stables, barns, day house, poultry, swine troughs, and the like."1
