Ferdoragh O'Neill, 1st Baron of Dungannon1

Ferdoragh O'Neill, 1st Baron of Dungannon was born illegitimately.1 He was the son of Con 'Baccach' O'Neill, 1st Earl of Tyrone and Alison Kelly.1 He married Joan Maguire, daughter of Constantine 'Coarb' Maguire.1 He died in 1558, killed.1
He was created 1st Baron of Dungannon [Ireland] on 1 October 1542.1 In 1558 he fought incessantly against his half-brother Shane an Diomais (who ordered his death), hence often sided with the English.1

Colonel Charles Fairlie Dobbs was born on 1 July 1872.1 He was the son of Colonel Alexander Fairlie Dobbs and Marianne Gage.2 He married Margaret Eleanor JoPP, daughter of John Gale JoPP, on 22 October 1896.1 He died on 27 January 1936 at age 63.1
He was educated at Bedford Grammar School, Bedford, Bedfordshire, EnglandG.1 He was commissioned in 1892 with the rank of officer, in the service of the Royal Lancashire Fusiliers.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He gained the rank of officer in 1894 in the Indian Army.1 He fought in the Aden Hinterland operations between 1903 and 1904.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches three times.1 He gained the rank of AQMG between 1914 and 1917 in the East Africa.1 He was awarded the Order of St. Anne of Russia 3rd Class.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1917.1 He gained the rank of AQMG between 1918 and 1919 in the Persia.1 He fought in the Afghan War in 1919.1 He was appointed Companion, Order of the Indian Empire (C.I.E.) in 1920.1 He was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.) in 1920.1 He retired from the military in 1921, with the rank of Colonel, late of the Indian Army.1

Margaret Eleanor JoPP was the daughter of John Gale JoPP.2 She married Colonel Charles Fairlie Dobbs, son of Colonel Alexander Fairlie Dobbs and Marianne Gage, on 22 October 1896.1 She died on 11 February 1939.1
From 22 October 1896, her married name became Dobbs.
