Asian Classical Instruments and Music
Hi. I'm not Asian, just let me state that up front.
I do love Asian music. Asian Classical music, let me clarify. LJ really doesn't need anymore jpop communities, but I searched and searched and couldn't find a community to support my love of Classical Asian Music. So I created one.
I had hoped to find support in my learning of the music of China, but it would appear all those voices are silent. I know there must be more of you out there but until you find your way here, I'm going to post about me and my efforts to learn to make my Erhu named Jia Ren Qu (Beauty of the North) sing properly, like a siren song into the Internet ether.
I'll also probably share some of my adventures in Chinese Opera. If at the very least, it should prove amusing to watch me bumble along my musical path of discovery. :-)
If you play an instrument, or want to learn please post and help start the community. We are not limited to Chinese instruments, but welcome all Pan-Asian music, including Korean, Japanese, Philippino, Vietnamese, and Thai.
Music is a common language, and these ancestral voices have wonderful tales to tell. For the sake of education, please keep posts in English.
P.S. The community name is the Latitude and Longitude of Shanghai China. If you knew that, you're cooler than I. I had to look it up. :-)
