All About Food - Everything Imaginable!
There are lots of communities devoted to recipes, how to cook and even one just for the Food Network! But there wasn't one solely for EVERYTHING food-related. Here you can post news articles about food, stories on the history of foods, gossip about celebrity chefs, discussions of cooking shows like Top Chef, reviews of famous restaurants, upcoming food events and festivals, anything and everything that has to do with food!
One of the main topics this community will be focused on is the growing slow-food, eating local movement. I am just getting started in it, and I am by no means militant.
There are only two basic rules here, neither one very difficult. (I have now had to amend it to three.)
1. I don't allow posts about recipes, or recipe requests.
(Notice that "recipe" is not one of the group's interests.) There are already so many recipe communities here on LJ and all over the net that it's just not necessary to have them here too. You can ask about recipes in the comments to posts, if you'd like. For example, if I make a post about heirloom tomatoes, talk about tomato sauce recipes in the comments all you want.
2. I don't want to see any posts about dieting, fad diets, diet tips, etc etc etc. Food, like everything else, is meant to be savored and enjoyed in moderation. If you want to limit your pleasures in life, again, there are many other LJ communities in which to do that. ;)
3. Food porn is usually allowed. However, NO posting of ACTUAL PORN INVOLVING FOOD.
