Comparison of top alternatives

*We sorted companies first by sponsorship level and then by their number of reviews.

AutoSys Workload Automation was developed by CA Technologies (acquired by Broadcom in 2018).1 It has been in the market since the 2000s. After acquiring the company, Broadcom laid off 2,000 of CA Technologies’ 4,837 employees (41% of the workforce).2 This post-merger integration activity may have impacted support and R&D efforts.

Broadcom has a couple of WLA solutions in their product portfolio, including AutoSys, Automic Automation, Dollar Universe. While we are not yet sure of Broadcom’s plans, a future merger between these products are a possibility. Additionally, IT professionals reveal widespread concerns about significant price hikes under Broadcom’s management and citing uncertainties around pricing and support quality. 3

You should also consider the following developments:

Critical vulnerability cases

In parallel with licensing concerns, Broadcom-owned VMware products have faced a series of high-impact security vulnerabilities. One such flaw, CVE-2025-22230, is an authentication bypass in VMware Tools for Windows that could allow attackers with limited privileges to perform elevated operations within virtual machines.4

Additionally, three zero-day vulnerabilities (CVE-2025-22224, CVE-2025-22225, and CVE-2025-22226) affecting VMware ESXi, Workstation, and Fusion have been exploited. These vulnerabilities allowed attackers to escape the guest VM environment and execute code directly on host systems.5

We also addressed the price increases and the change of support frameworks in our articles covering Broadcom’s services. Please refer to the provided links for an overview of each development.

Top AutoSys alternatives analyzed

1-RunMyJobs by Redwood

RunMyJobs offers many of the core workload automation (WLA) capabilities that organizations using AutoSys rely on – but with some distinct differences that can make it an appealing alternative.

In contrast to AutoSys, which often requires on-premise setup and integration work, RunMyJobs’ SaaS delivery model can offer a faster onboarding through features like an on-demand free trial.

Pros

Cons

Choose RunMyJobs for industry-leading SAP integrations delivered as SaaS

See their offerings below:

2-Stonebranch

Stonebranch’s workload automation (WLA) tool, Universal Automation Center (UAC) users have access to the Stonebranch Integration Hub, where they can find community-contributed integration templates. Additionally, they can utilize dashboards and detailed reports to gain real-time insights and monitor service level agreements.

Pros

Cons

Choose Stonebranch for a wide range of community-driven, pre-packaged integrations delivered as SaaS.

3-ActiveBatch

ActiveBatch has some differences in design and integration approach that make it a viable alternative to AutoSys. ActiveBatch makes it easier for teams without deep technical expertise to create and adjust automated processes using visual tools like Flow Control Job Steps (e.g., ForEachRow, If-Branch). See Figure 1.

ActiveBatch also includes the Super REST API adapter, which simplifies connecting to external APIs, such as making AWS API calls. While AutoSys can integrate with various systems, this built-in API tool gives ActiveBatch an alternative route for integrating cloud services and external applications including open-source job schedulers.
