Instruction of literacy process in which comprehension and expression of individuals have been de... more Instruction of literacy process in which comprehension and expression of individuals have been developed has also a critical importance in acquisition of cognitive, affective and social skills. Skills of literacy expected to be gained at the first grade of elementary school are affected by various parameters. Crowded classrooms, parent involvement, problem of mother tongue, lack of instructional Technologies and materials, socioeconomic conditions and curriculum literacy in use are some of these parameters. In addition to all of these parameters, 4 + 4 + 4 has also been defined as another parameter emerged as a result of the researches focusing instruction of literacy. This study aiming to determine the views of pre-service primary school teachers regarding the effect of 4+4+4 amendment in Turkish Educational System was conducted in qualitative research technique. The data was compiled from pre-service primary school teachers with the form of semi-structured interview by employing criterion sampling that is a kind of purposive sampling; then analyzed by means of descriptive analysis. In the conclusion of study, it was found that some of pre-service teachers point out the amendment as though it has positive and negative features; some point out the amendment do not have a substructure and is unprepared; the others point out the amendment as good. While the majority of pre-service teachers remarked problems based on writing skills in grade one, the others remarked the problems based on reading skills. Additionally, the pre-service teachers voiced that teaching process of literacy is outstretched and as emotional, students have negative thoughts towards reading and writing too. For the purpose of solution, pre-service teachers underlined the requirement of preschool education.

The aim of this study is to examine the professional identities of the academic staff of the facu... more The aim of this study is to examine the professional identities of the academic staff of the faculties of education in Turkey. The study employed the Q methodology, in which both quantitative and qualitative data can be used. The qualitative data were collected and analysed by interviewing seven academics working in the faculty of education in the first stage of the study, which was conducted in two sequential stages. The analysis of the qualitative data showed that the academic staff of the faculty of education defined their professional identities as a "Practitioner", "Researcher", "Instructor", "Coach", "Counsellor" and a "Preparer". In the second stage of the study, the Q measurement tool was developed by the researchers based on the specified definitions for professional identities. The quantitative data were collected from 21 academics working in the faculty of education and analysed with the Q measurement tool. According to the analysis of the quantitative data, the academic staff of the faculties of education were seen to adopt six professional identities defined in general. In addition, the professional identity as a "Researcher" was found to be the most preferred, while the professional identity as a "Preparer" was the least preferred of the given identities. According to the findings obtained in the study, it was concluded that the educational experience of the academic staff of education faculties significantly differentiate the preferences and attitudes towards professional identities. Based on the findings and results obtained in this study, it is highly recommended to examine the role of the educational experience of the academic staff of education faculties in the change and transformation of their professional identities.

Makalenin sonunda; egitimsel, bilimsel ve editoryal anlamda onleyici calismalar yapilmasi onerilmektedir.
