Reference Photos for Artists.

Hello and welcome to my photo-reference community for artists!

Have you ever been stuck for ideas of what to paint? Found it difficult to proceed with a painting because of lack of good quality references for your subject?

As an artist I'm always on the lookout for reference photos. Textures, architecture, landscapes, reflections, lighting and shadows - all the little details that are not always easy to paint from memory. I take my digital camera with me everywhere, and document everything incessantly.
Rather than have these images sat redundant on my hard-drive, I thought it might be a good idea to make a community where I could share these images with other artists.
In addition I openly invite other members of the group to post their own reference photos for other artists to use.
And finally if there is an image that you are desperate to find, post a request here - other artists might be able to help you out.

Please read the rules below before posting.

Community Rules.

1. Copyright. IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. The whole point of this community is that artists can use these photographs without having to worry about copyright issues. The photographer retains copyright to any image posted here, but is giving permission for other artists to use the image as a reference for their artwork. All images posted here must therefore have been taken by the person posting the image.
In summary - All images posted here must be your own. If you post a photograph here, you are giving permission for other artists to use that photograph. Please, do not post other people's photographs here. Anyone found to be breaking this rule will be removed from the community.

2. Nudity and portraiture. I will not accept explicit reference photographs. There are plenty of other sites which show such images - no pornography here, thank you. In addition any other nude images will be moderated before they are posted - I have no wish to get into trouble with Live Journal. Photographs as anatomical references will be allowed - with moderator's discretion. Portraiture, again - with discretion. I do not want hundreds of photos of your family. If the face is interesting, and/or the lighting and mood useful, then I will accept portraits. Unacceptable images will be deleted.

3. Please consider other journal users - if you are posting more than one image or if the image is very large, place it behind a cut.
