Rum, Sodomy and the Slash

XXIX. If any person in the fleet shall commit the unnatural and detestable sin of buggery and sodomy with man or beast, he shall be punished with death by the sentence of a court martial.

This is a multi-fandom community originally based around a common interest in Age-of-Sail slash, but open to anything which the general membership considers to be squeeful. Fandoms we like are listed in our interests, but in general have a tendency to involve history, the navy and/or army, and the 18th and 19th centuries. There is no set list of what's "on topic" for this community: fan fiction, recs, pictures, fandom pimping, meta, general squeeage, all are permitted.

Content is likely to be adult in nature. You have been warned.

Membership is open to anyone with an interest in the fandoms we cover, upon nomination and discussion by the current members. Generally we approve anyone who looks like she enjoys the same sort of stuff that we do and has a compatible outlook, based on what we find in her LJ/website/etc. To determine compatibility we look at:

When nominating a new member, we usually link to fanfic or other such squee material s/he has posted, to provide background for other members to vote on. If we can't find any such thing, and you don't tell us where to find it, we won't bother nominating you. That means: if you don't have squee material readily apparent on your LJ (the most recent page of recent entries) or your website (linked from your LJ) and you don't comment or email us to let us know where we can find something about you and your fannish activities, we will probably just silently drop your request.

Upon joining, new members are expected to post some inaugural squee material within a few days. This can be original material or a link to older stuff. Fiction, art, pictures, recs, etc are all welcome as introductory squee.
