Its biology, damage and infestation ratio were studied in Sankamiş. (Kars), Turkey, during 1996 and 1997.P. apparella has one generation a year. The developmental stages of the pest are described briefly. P.apparella hibernates in the adult stage. At the beginning of June, the adults appear. Females deposit their eggs on both leaf surfaces, generally one by one, 7–10 days after emerging. The early instars (sap-feeding larvae) start to mine mostly from the underside of leaves. Each mine has one larva, and each leaf may have up to 26 mines. The last instar (tissue-feeding larva) begins to pupate in the mine after mid August. The adults emerge from mid September to the beginning of October, and move to the trunks of old pine trees, where they hibernate in bark crevices. The infestation level may be as high as 90% of the leaves on some trees.

We either describe and illustrate the mature or nearly mature larvae of the following taxa or provide references to their earlier descriptions: Dufourea holocyanea (Cockerell), D. australis australis Michener, D. mulleri (Cockerell), D. novaeangliae (Robertson), Sphecodosoma (Sphecodosoma) dicksoni (Timberlake), Protodufourea eickworti Bohart and Griswold, Xeralictus timberlakei Cockerell, Systropha planidens Giraud, Rophites (Rhophitoides) canus Eversmann, R. (Rophites) algirus trispinosus Pérez, Conanthalictus (C.) conanthi (Cockerell), and C. (Phaceliapis) bakeri Crawford. We present a key to known mature rophitine larvae. We also describe pupae of the following taxa for the first time and compare them with the pupa of S. dicksoni: D. holocyanea, D. australis australis, and R. canus. The phylogenetic relations of the treated taxa are discussed in light of larval characters, and we discuss the pupal characteristics of the entire family. We offer notes on the nesting biology of various taxa whose immatures were treated and synthesize this information with previous accounts from the literature. (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae), were studied in the Aras Valley (Kars and Erzurum provinces), Turkey, during 2006-2007. Five parasitoid species, Paraperithous gnathaulax (Thomson), Dolichomitus populneus (Ratzeburg), Dolichomitus tuberculatus (Geoffroy) (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae), Ipbiaulax impostor (Scopoli) (Hymenoptera: Braconidae), and Billaea irrorata (Meig.) (Diptera: Tachinidae), were reared from the over-wintering larvae living in the galls of S. populnea. Dolichomitus populneus was the most numerous of the parasitoids and accounted for 55% of all parasitoids reared. Ipbiaulax impostor and B. irrorata were reared from S. populnea for the first time in Turkey. Additionally, B. irrorata is a new record for the Turkish fauna.

The present contribution is based upon the ichneumonids collected from two different localities (... more The present contribution is based upon the ichneumonids collected from two different localities (Bayburt and Erzurum) of Turkey (Anatolia), in 1999 and 2003. A total of six species have been recorded in the subfamilies, Banchinae and Ichneumoninae. One genus (Aoplus) and five species were new records for the Turkish fauna. The Ichneumonidae (Hymenoptera), is a widespread and extremely large family, with an estimated 60 000 extant species in 35 genera worldwide (Townes, 1969). The Ichneumoninae has a worldwide distribution and is the second largest subfamily of Ichneumonidae with 373 genera and about 1700 species in Palaearctic Region. The species in this subfamily are koinobiont or idiobiont endoparasitoids of Lepidoptera (Rasnitsyn & Siitan, 1981). The Banchinae is another subfamily of the family Ichneumonidae with about 1,500 species world- wide. The tribes Banchini, Glyptini and Lissonotini are distributed worldwide (Townes & Townes, 1978). All Bachinae species are koinobiont end...

Its feeding habits and nature of damage were studied during the summers of 2013-2015. The adults appeared in the beginning of May and remained active throughout the summer until the middle of September. The adults showed nocturnal habit and fed at night, during the day time they remained on the ground or at the bottom of the trees. It was found to be an edge feeder; damaged leaves became irregularly shaped and left behind the veins of the leaves in some cases. The adults were also found damaging cherry leaves. Presumably, the adults over wintered in the dried plant refuge in the orchard.
