Fifty two 5 th and 6 th grade primary school students participated in the study. Students were taught by two physical education teachers. The self-check and the reciprocal teaching styles were implemented during the instruction of basic basketball skills in three physical education lessons. Semi-structured interviews were used for ascertainment of students' opinions. From the results of the thematic analysis it was found that the intervention positively affected learners' enjoyment, interest and effort during lesson on the condition that implementation of new teaching practices is systematic. The findings of the present study provide useful information on elementary school students' experiences during physical education lesson with the use of self-check and reciprocal teaching styles.

Their mean age was 36.4 yr. (SD= 8.7). A confirmatory factor analysis did not support the prior five-factor solution. A multiple-baseline, single-subject design was used with video observations on three performance components (serving, serve-receiving and attacking), collected for three woman volleyball players, in amateur level-six years experience. Every skill evaluated using three symbols: 0 = the lost (a point lost by player), + = the perfect (a point won by player) and-= the neutral (continued the phase). This method evaluates the effectiveness of individual components of performance. At the midseason break, participants selected one skill of their play that they felt would benefit from improvement. A goal-setting program was designed based on the goal attainment scaling procedure recommended by Smith (1988). According to the program participants generated numerical targets for their chosen skills. Performance skills were assessed for the next seven matches as they had been in the pre-intervention phase. Participants showed no significant improvements in their targeted area of performance. The findings suggest that amateur athletes cannot enhance their performance by using the goal attainment scaling as an intervention strategy during the games of the competitive season.

One hundred sixty-nine primary school pupils in fifth and sixth grades (11–12 years old) participated in the study and were randomly divided into two groups. Ninety-four students participated in a goal-setting intervention program that lasted five physical education lessons, and seventy-five students served as a control group. Perceived autonomy support in physical education classes, autonomous motivation in physical education, enjoyment during physical education, vitality, attitudes, perceived behavioral control, and intention toward out-of-school physical activity were measured at the beginning and end of the intervention program through anonymous questionnaires. The results indicated that goal setting served as a useful strategy for the promotion of autonomy support in physical education lessons, producing positive effects on leisure-time physical activity–related cognition. The participants were 97 students (59 boys, 38 girls), aged from 10 to 12 years (M = 11,16, SD = .64). Students were evaluated regarding their: (a) performance in sport skills; (b) knowledge about life skills; (c) self-assessment of their ability to use life skills; and (d) their sense of selfefficiency about their sport skills performance before and after implementation of the program. The results of the study support the effectiveness of a program that integrates physical education curriculum and life-skills training. Students who participate in such program can improve their sports skills, while at the same time the inclusion of life skills training into practice may serve as an effective model for learning life-skills.

The first part is an attempt to define and describe life skills that is followed by presentation of the theoretical and practical framework through which life skills can be developed. Next, successful life skills programs implemented through educational and sports settings are presented. In the final part, the results from the implementation of life skills program and the advantages of teaching life skills through physical education are discussed. Guide-lines for planning life skills educational programs and directions for future research are provided as well.

The examination of motivation theories and the review of relevant studies set off a number of factors that determine students' intrinsic motivation. Results illustrated the positive effects of in-trinsic motivation on students' behavior in physical education classes, in exercise and physical activity. The instruments that assess intrinsic motivation are presented, as well as future directions for better under-standing of factors that determine intrinsic motivation. When physical educators seize factors that determine students' intrinsic motivation, they can create a motivational climate that favors participation in physical education lessons.
