Schlitzie, The Snow Siblings, And Many More...
For fans of sideshow performers, particularly Schlitzie, the Snow siblings etc.
This is a community inspired by the popularity of Pepper from American Horror Story: Asylum and American Horror Story: Freak Show. She is an amazing character, but what a lot of people don't know about her is that the idea for her character came from real people, circus performers such as Schlitzie Surtees and the Snow siblings.
So, this community is mainly for fans of those performers, and for all things circus and sideshow, past and present. Even for fictional characters like Pepper too, if you feel they're relevant to the theme.
Anything on topic is welcome to be posted here - fan fiction, essays, opinion pieces, art, photos, icons, links to other relevant sites, fic and art reca, debates, discussions... have a story about Pepper or Schlizie, for example? Post it here. Do you have an opinion on whether the freak shows of the past were a good or bad thing? That's welcome too. As long as all discussion is kept civil, feel free to post anything you like (except flames or spam!)
The rules here are few and simple:
1. PLAY NICE. No trolling, spamming or flaming whatsoever. Debate is allowed and encouraged, but NO personal attacks. Anyone caught harassing this community and its members will be banned without warning. If you have any conflicts with a fellow member of this community, please take them to IM or email. Any off-topic posts will be deleted and the poster warned - a second offense will result in a ban.
3. All ratings of art or fiction are allowed, G through NC-17, and all manner of kinks, squicks etc. are permitted as long as they are warned for.
4. Long fics, large images and anything rated above G must be put behind a cut tag. Appropriate warnings must be given for content such as explicit sex, violence or anything else potentially controversial. If you think your work may be extremely controversial (e.g. non-con, darkfic) we suggest friendslocking it to the comm. Please do NOT hotlink images!
