There are no reserve fees and everything starts at around .01or.01 or .01or1.00. I hope this post is allowed and doesn't offend. Thanks. (comment on this) Thursday, March 23rd, 2006 12:55 pm - Inspiration -1st Place Winner Woman's Competition bellawolfe I guess the subject line says it all! ~laughing~ I only lifted 100lbs, but the way that you are required to lift for a competition is very different from how I have been lifting. There is a long pause after you bring the weight down to your chest before you are allowed to raise it back up -I knew that would be difficult for me. (Not if I had lifted lighter, but it was a competition!) So now when I work on my strength building I will add that pause into my reps. It was a great experience, and though I was only lifting for fun, it is a huge emotional boost to have won a trophy! Some of my coworkers were laughing at the weight and that I was the only woman to lift, so it was like a default win -but I don't feel that way, after all I did outlift all the woman just standing around watching. Maybe next time they will have the courage to give it a try too? I owe it all to BFL, had I not started the program, I would have been one of those women on the side lines! I finished my 12 week program on March 10th, and have started all over again. Keep the Faith.~Ecurrent mood: accomplished (comment on this) Sunday, February 5th, 2006 10:47 pm yasue thinpositive is a community I created for one reason- in the past when I've felt really great about losing weight and have gone to most weight loss communities- I've gotten depressed and lost hope because I read about binges and failure. I wanted a place to go for motivation without worrying about reading a very negative post and feeling the same way- negative. Negativity breeds negativity. Optimism... breeds optimism. This is my separate fitness journal and I would like to have some people on my friends list who are starting the program as well. I am starting tomorrow. I did the program three years ago, but had to quit through challenge three because of a severe injury. I'm still not healed, unfortunately.Anyone want to add me? Make a menu, this is the hardest thing for me, because I am a very picky eater. I don't like too much things that are on the food list.3. What are some things you did well today that helped move you toward your 12-week goals? Started to create my own website so that I can easily monitor my workouts in a central location.5. What is something you will do better tomorrow? Knowing that I am going out of town tomorrow through Sunday, write out a plan on how I am going to exercise, and what foods I should stay away from.6. On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate your success today? I would rate myself a six, because I have been doin the cardio and weight training as scheduled, but need to get rid of my scale and put together a plan of what to eat.current mood: energetic (4 comments | comment on this) Tuesday, November 11th, 2003 9:13 pm jessifly Wow, it's been a long time since I've posted here!I had such a great workout today, it reminded me that I hadn't checked the community in a long time.I thought I'd log on and say hi and see how you all are doing! I did an hour-long workout today... 1/2 hour on the elliptical and 1/2 hour on the treadmill. Calories burned was 441That was by far the longest duration and most calories burned in a gym workout for me.I am curious, how do these numbers compare to your gym workouts? I started to get back into the gym about a month ago and started the actual program a few weeks ago. I was happy to see a community dedicated to the program and eagerly joined to receive support in my ventures. If anyone has any thoughts on the program, or if you would like to share tips or advice, I'd more than welcome the advice. I look forward to sharing with you all! I'm so glad I came upon this community today, right when I need an extra kick of motivation.Currently, I'm on week 5 of the Body-for-Life program (I use a combination of Body-for-Life for Women as well). I've already lost an inch everywhere (legs, arms, ribs, waist) and look and feel so much better.I don't use the shakes because it's quite spendy and my sister told me to stay away from the vanilla...lol. I do make my own protein fruit shakes/smoothies by using soy protein powder that I picked up in the store. In fact, I burnt out my blender today! DOH!Of course I started the program so pumped and the results I am seeing should make me jump for joy, but why is it becoming SO hard to exercise. I sit and debate (or Rumination Rut) all day long and finally end up exercising late at night. I want to get into the habit of doing it in the morning to burn stored fat.My sister is doing the program with me, she did it before her baby and lost a lot of weight but only made it to week 8. Now she's post-baby and wants to lose it again. She's getting great results as well. I try and go onto the BFL website to get motivational tips and read the stories, but I think I was born with a lazy bone. I only have about 15-20 lbs. to reach my goal! I previously lost 20 lbs. last year using the FIRM. I like the BFL weight training better than the FIRM because I can focus slowly on my reps/sets. Plus, I've gotten better results doing this for 5 weeks than doing the FIRM for 3-4 months at a time.I decided to lose the scale, because I was getting impatient and it threatened me getting off the Challenge altogether because of the stupid number. Instead, I plan to only weigh-in every 4 weeks. For now, I'm using clothes and a measuring tape. I truly believe in this program as I have tried a lot of things out there and have been generally unhappy with my body. Out of all the health related material I read and study, this program truly is sound advice. I want to live this way for life. I just have to get over the bad habits right?Anyway, I'm excited to be on this journey with you all! I still haven't made a complete menu for the upcoming week so I will do that and I need to start an exercise log too so I can see where I need to improve.3. What are some things you did well today that helped move you toward your 12-week goals? I had a really good cardio workout on the treadmill this morning! My distance was double what I could do last week (1 mile before, now 2 miles), I endured it 10 minutes longer too (20 minutes last week, now 30 minutes), and I did speed intervals (last week I could only jog at 4.7mph constant but I was up to 6mph on my last interval today). 5. What is something you will do better tomorrow? I didn't go to bed until midnight last night, tonight I go to bed by 10:30. 6. On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate your success today? My husband and I have been doing BFL for 6 weeks. He's lost 6 lbs, and I've only lost 4 lbs. I want to lose a lot more. I hope this new book BFL for Women enlightens me on how to do that.
