Ethno medicinally A. lebbeck is claimed to be used in the management of leprosy, wound, asthama, urticaria, migraine, worm infection and others. The present study has been carried out to establish the stem bark of the plant for its morphological, microscopical and physicochemical characters along with different phytochemical qualitative tests, as per Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India. Microscopy of the stem bark showed dead tissue of rhytidoma, prismatic crystals of calcium oxalate, and tangential bands of ceratenchyma. Physicochemical parameters showed loss on drying (7.15%w/w), ash value (4.05%w/w), acid insoluble ash (0.33%w/w), water soluble extractive (15.46%w/v) and alcohol soluble extractive (14.24%w/v). Preliminary phytochemical analysis for the presence of various functional groups revealed the presence of flavonoids, proteins, saponins, tannins and free amino acids. The obse...

VG has these ingredients as follows- Goghrita (Cow ghee), Vacha (Acorus calamus) , Guduchi (Tinospora cordifolia) , Shankhapushpi (Convolvulus pluricaulis) , Haritaki (Terminalia chebula) , Shati (Hedychium spicatum) , Vidang (Embelia ribes) , Shunthi (Zingiber officinale) and Apamarg (Achyranthes aspera). The use of Vachadi Ghrita and its ingredients has been well defined in ancient Ayurvedic texts like Charak samhita, Ashtang hridaya, Bharat Bhaishajya Ratnakar and Bhav prakash bighantu etc. The ingredients of VG have been assessed for various activities. Vacha showed Antidepressant potential, Guduchi showed anti oxidant activity. Haritaki and Shankhapushpi have been experimentally assessed for Anti-stress, anti-anxiety, and memory enhancer activities. Vidanga showed Anti depressant activity and Shunthi showed nootropic-neuroprotective activity. Antiepileptic, anti...

PGG was prepared as per established SOP and compared with standard values. Nootropic activity of Panchagavya Ghrita (PGG) was studied using Diazepam induced amnesia in mice and Morris Water Maze test in rat model. PGG also reversed successfully the amnesia induced by Diazepam (1mg/kg, i.p.). PGG was administered in three dose levels of PGG as X/2 (2.5gm/kg), X (5gm/kg) and 2X (10gm/kg) in mice and X/2 (1.75gm/kg), X (3.5gm/kg) and 2X (7.0gm/kg) in rats. In EPM test significant effect of 5gm/kg dose of PGG was determined and Piracetam and PGG at 3.5gm/kg drugs have significant memory enhancement action in MWM test.

When it is related to the authenticity of the samples available in market whether they are genuine or not every person doubtful regarding reliability of the available market samples. To check out this issue we have collected three samples of very well-known brands namely sample 1 from Government shop of Lucknow, sample-2 of Natural brand and sample-3 of baby Keshar brand. Aim: To check the authenticity of three market samples of keshar for checking its genuineness. There is rapid adulteration in the Keshar due to the high coast for money business hence assessment of correct sample for the use of medicinal purpose is necessary. Material and Method: for the convenience we have named these samples as K1, K2, K3. We have followed the standard parameters mentioned in Ayurvedic pharmacopoeia of India Part I, Vol-4 for authenticating all the three samples of Keshar ...

The Fast-moving consumer goods industry is growing at 4% per year, which is more than the global gross domestic product (GDP). FMCG is the fourth major sector of the Indian financial system. With the increasing speed of the Ayurvedic pharmaceutical market, FMCG players like Pa-tanjali, Dabur, Emami etc. are interested in expanding to tap the market by their portfolios. FMCG sector is divided into food and beverages, health care and household along with personal care categories. Ayurvedic FMCG industry is based on the expansion and marketing of products between food drinks, health, domestic and personal care etc. In the current scenario , more than 30,000 proprietary and 1500 classical products are available in the market. The market of Ayurvedic FMCG products is estimated to register a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 16% between 2016 and 2021 and will increase from current $ 500 million to $ 1.1 billion by 2021. Although many FMCG products advertise the estimated results, the Ayurvedic FMCG industry is largely irregular. Mushrooming Indian population , mainly the middle class and the rural sectors, gives a chance to manufacturers of proprietary products to refurbish consumers to proprietary products. Consumers to take precautions are derived from caution and doubt, because the shift toward natural products has gathered momentum. In addition, companies of all sizes are racing to keep pace. This manuscript reviews a snapshot of current trends in the Ayurvedic FMCG market and will provide development opportunities and strategies adopted by the multi-billion dollar market.
