He started his wrestling career with his grandfather Arif Çavuş’s support and he became a world-renowned athlete later in his career
thanks to the matches he mostly won with pin-downs. Doğu, in addition to the many olympiad and world championship titles he won for the Turkish federation, also discovered and trained countless champion wrestlers as a coach, and he continued to contribute to Turkish wrestling until his death. Known for his morality, principles and nationalism; Doğu served as a model for young athletes, and thanks to his self devotion and helpfulness, he was loved and embraced by Anatolian people. In this study; by inspecting Doğu’s personal life and principles, the factors that led him to his success was revealed, by looking into his experiences from his wrestling career, the golden era of Turkish wrestling came to light, and by investigating his coaching career, his altruism, self-devotion and nationalism was exhibited.

This paper provides a simple and significant understanding of how a mythic journey and mythic hero is supposed to be regarding Campbell and Voytilla.
