Jorge Narro Monroy** abstract jorge Nan-o Monroy, M.A. The Exercise of Power on the Subject Who Wields It. Minimal Democracy and Maximal Democracy. There are three ways to look at democracy. The minimal version reduces it to a method for securing the election of representatives. The intermediate version looks at the political system, the State, and institutional guarantees. The maximal version sees it as a way of life: the people have the power, and it is reflected in civil, political and social citizenship. Application to the case ofthe so-called Mexican democracy.
