I am a divorced father of three children (two sons ages 13 and seven and one daughter age 10). Currently, I reside in Charlotte, NC after living the majority of my life in Sydney, Australia, and back and forth between Los Angeles, CA and Houston, TX. In May of 2013, at the annual meeting of the American Psychiatric Association the releasing of the Fifth Edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) occurred. This date marked the culmination of work spanning a decade to revise the criteria for diagnosing and classifying mental disorders (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). The DSM-5 is the latest edition of the DSM that is a significantly important tool for clinical psychologists when diagnosing clients and for determining effective and proven treatment such as psychotherapies.
