10:52 am - Mmmm. Tell me what you think, people.
juliadactyl So, there's been Christmas shopping recently, and it got me to thinking about another occasion that will cost a lot of money.Tom and I have decided on a civil celebrant, right? Well, what I really want is to get someone I know registered as a celebrant and have them perfom the ceremony. Does this sound tacky to anyone?Urgh. I want my wedding to be soon. I want my sister to be living back in Sydney, and I want to be out of uni, and I want to plan this awesome event. I have all these plans and ideas, and I want to make them go! Now! 9:13 am - The Good, The Bad, and the Unwearable.
juliadactyl So, because I fangirl scorpysue like a mofo, I was interested to read about her adventures in bridesmaiding for Another Woman ("Who is this 'best friend'? Is she prettier than me?").Especially the part about the god-awful dresses. To me, it just seems obvious that if you're making someone fork out SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS for a dress, they should at least like the goddamn thing. You give the bridesmaids a say about it. Maybe shortlist three or dresses that you're happy about, then let them choose. But don't force it on them. I think I was spoiled by my own experience, being my sister's bridesmaid. The dresses were cheap. Like, $75 cheap. And nice, and simple, and elegant. And one could wear them again. You don't need to make the BM dresses all elaborate, in fact, it's best if you don't. Oh, and Sara; diamantes? Gag me with a spoon.People's thoughts? Do YOU like paying hundreds of dollars for a shit dress you'll never wear again? (7 bouquets | catch!)

12:58 pm - Some general ideas...
juliadactyl Okay, kidderinos. Here are some vague ideas The Tom and I have had vis. our wedding. (I am so a member of the City Watch). No children in the ceremony - unless a silbling has a kid or something by then. Even so, very iffy. Kids cry, and forget, and pee, and throw up, and I want everyone to be looking at ME, dammit. No church for the ceremony. Neither of us is overly religious, and I wasn't even baptised anything, so it would be a bit silly. It's quite funny, because TomMum keeps telling me I can't have a garden wedding, and JuliaMum keeps telling me I should. Silly mums! So, we're probably going to book some nice old building for the ceremony. That could be nice. Any ideas? And don't tell us to have it overseas, that'll just lead to all our family flying over, and almost none of our friends. Uncool. (2 bouquets | catch!)
