September 5th, 2006 hirodra12:17 amI'm not good at introductions, which is why this isn't much of one.I really am only posting to ask a question. They say Anpu has a daughter, but I haven't seen any mention anywhere of who her mother is. Does anyone know?(5 comments | Leave a comment)From:phoenix_falls Date:September 5th, 2006 06:52 am (UTC) **(Link)**I haven't seen anything about Her Mother either, but my opinion is that her mother is probably Ma'at, since traditionally, Kebechet was sometimes depicted as an ostrich or an ostrich feather which was indicative of Ma'at.(Reply) (Thread) From:jayed Date:September 5th, 2006 07:10 am (UTC) (Link)The goddess Anput (Input, Inpewt, Yineput) - ynpwt inpwt - was the goddess of the 17th Nome of Upper Egypt, who was depicted as a woman wearing the jackal standard of her nome or a woman with the head of a jackal. She was believed to have been the wife of Anubis, and possibly the mother of Kebechet.(Reply) (Thread) From:jayed Date:September 5th, 2006 07:12 am (UTC) **(Link)**Sorry, LJ went mad and posted!Thats the only google reference I can find!(Reply) (Parent) (Thread) From:kyanti_bird Date:September 5th, 2006 10:50 pm (UTC) **(Link)**I've also heard an alternate explanation of Anput, which is that Anput is simply the female aspect of Anpu. The -t ending is feminine; it's just a feminization of Anpu, possibly.(Reply) (Parent) (Thread) From:darkinyron Date:September 5th, 2006 06:35 pm (UTC) **(Link)**I've never found any evidence of Kebehut's mother. :\ All I know is that she's a goddess of water purification and is depicted usually as a cobra or a cobra-headed woman. Otherwise my information on her is very vague, but I'd LOVE to learn more.(Reply) (Thread) |
