WWN Broadcast Friday, June 29th ~ Evening

"- I had know that was all it would take to keep that hag Witherpool off my case and away from my stories, I would have volunteered to bring lunch for everyone before. It is not my fault she's got a thing for chicken salad. How was I supposed to know you aren't supposed to use the entire - What? - What do you mean I'm on the air? Already? Why didn't you say something sooner?"

"This is Rita Skeeter live in the gardens of the Black Orchid Hotel -

which is the closest I can get thanks to security and that restraining order. That sound you hear is an almost tribal rhythm emanating from the hotel ballroom."

The noise grew momentarily louder before being drowned out by the unmistakable sounds of snapping twigs and a whispered curse.

"They nearly saw me that time."

"Almost a primal beat, primal enough to remind this reporter of the events that occurred in that very ballroom just a few short months ago. Will tonight's festivities end in yet another veil of silence, much like the day after the Valentine's Ball and the rumored, yet sadly unsubstantiated, orgy that may or may not have taken place?"

"As always, ladies and gentlemen, WWN is always interested in the comments and concerns of our listeners. More importantly, if you personally witnessed a sensational bit of scandal, owl me, Rita Skeeter, care of the WWN. The Wizarding Wireless Network now returns you to our regularly scheduled programing."

There are three hundred and sixty-four days when you might get un-birthday presents... and only one for birthday presents, you know. -Lewis Carroll Saturday, June 16th ~ Morning

Some times there are sacrifices to be made. Wednesday, June 13th ~*~ Afternoon

Daphne said her goodbyes to Anne Perks, and stepped away from the woman's hospital bed.

After hearing what had happened on Monday, she'd wanted to visit the two people that had gotten hurt. Guilt had eaten at her for the last few days even though she hadn't had any part in what had happened when Bellatrix died, but that didn't stop her from wanting to see for herself that Anne and Snape would eventually be alright.

Dealing with her guilt over Bellatrix's death would take much more, she knew.

She stopped to lean against her husband for a moment, seeking a bit of comfort and strength, before moving on to find Snape.

Covered in bandages and looking even paler than normal, he was propped up against some pillows in his bed, arguing with his Healer. That, more than anything else could have, served to reassure her.

I got my mob scene in my eyes You can ignore the voices of the people, This is the beginning.

They say no consequence. This is the beginning of the end. Monday, June 11 :: Morning

"This is to be a precision operation. Secure the area, retrieve Lestrange and bring her back to Azkaban for interrogation."

Scrimgeour steepled his hands and looked across his desk at the hand-picked group of Aurors listening attentively to every one of his words.

Kingsley Shacklebolt wasn't among them. The Minister had wanted disciplined, obedient officers on this mission, and while he respected the Head of the Auror Office, Scrimgeour didn't trust Shacklebolt to see what was best in this case.

For instance, Kingsley would probably think it necessary to inform the Hogsmeade office of what was about to go down in their town, and that couldn't be allowed.

And so it begins. Sunday, June 10th - Early Afternoon

Bill Apparated to Glen Hollow, one arm full of the carefully wrapped package, the other wrapped firmly around Tonks for a Side-Along Apparation.

Little had he known back when Tonks had told him about Longbottom's suspected fate - so that he could be ready in case Ginny needed comforting or a big brother's hold to keep her from going after someone for revenge - that he would be end up in the thick of everything.

"Remember, officially, I was just doing a favor for a friend when I agreed to look it over. Harry didn't go through Gringotts, and they could have my job if they thought I was doing paid, freelance work. If you weren't you, Nymph, I wouldn't even have told you what I found because it's Potter's, not mine, but this is big and - Oh, crap, this is big, isn't it?"

He knocked on the door once more, hoping the Potters were home and that someone would answer soon enough. The package was giving him the creeps, making the short hairs on his neck stand on end.

I may be going crazy, but at least I'm not going alone.
Sunday, June 3rd ~*~ Afternoon

It was a fine day to be outside. The sun was shining, birds were chirping. Several owls were flying through the air to deliver messages to their owners. One owl seemed a little different then the others. It carried no message or parcel. Rather then flying in a direction for a purpose it circled lazily around the town.

After a while it flew down into a small alley.

A few moments later, Gregory Goyle walked out of the alley, shielding his eyes with his hand against the bright sunlight.

Friday, May 25th ~ Morning

Almost a week had gone by since Remus had informed Harry of Neville Longbottom's fate and who was the prime suspect in Remus' own problem. He'd spent the days remembering his old classmate and how brave Neville had been in spite of - or maybe because of - his own fears. He wondered briefly if Neville's parents were still alive, but knew he'd never check as he would have so many years ago.

Even if I did check, they wouldn't know or care who I was, he reasoned with the tiny bit of conscience that refused to stay quiet. It fell silent at last and he rose from the desk in his office to glance at the time. A few pieces of parchment were in one hand as he went downstairs to stop by Doris' office.

"Doris," he said as he laid them in her tray. "I'm leaving now and I won't be back until Monday."

If you carry your childhood with you, you never become older. - Abraham Sutzkever Saturday, May 5th ~ Afternoon

Roger grabbed a bottle of ale and set the broom he had just dismounted carefully aside. Looking around he couldn't keep the grin off his face. Some friends, a picnic, a few rounds of Quidditch, and a cold ale to drink - there was no better way to celebrate your birthday in his opinion.

And the best was yet to come.

Roger made his way over to Vera, thinking of the surprise he had enlisted the house elves help in setting up back in his quarters. Roger couldn't stop smiling as he plopped down next to his - hopefully - future wife and gave her a kiss.

"And what have you been up to?"

The first step to getting the things you want out of life is this: Decide what you want. ~ Ben Stein Friday, May 4th ~ Morning

Since Lucius was absent for an extended period on business matters, there was really no hurry. However, having made her mind up, Narcissa wanted to be completely moved and established in her new home before he returned. Mostly because she didn't trust him. Narcissa had no doubt Lucius would take whatever steps he felt were necessary to keep her in their - his home and her skills with a wand were pitiful at best.

For that matter, what's to stop him from simply removing me from the penthouse and depositing me back here again? made a frown appear between her brows. Then and there she decided to ask Draco and Severus for assistance in setting up proper deterrents against that possibility. It wouldn't stop him if he happened to catch her out in the open, but at least she could sleep at night knowing nothing would happen.

I ... takes over slowly But doesn't last very long I ... no need to worry Evr'ything's under control Wednesday, May 2 :: Evening

Wisps of steam rose from the goblet containing the altered wolfsbane.

"Assuming the minor vomiting problem is taken care of without harming the potion's effectiveness ... there's one full moon after this one before end of term. I think to be safe, that should be spent here as well, even if tonight goes as expected. One last hurrah."

Remus tilted the cup toward Snape in acknowledgement and began to drink.

Over the summer there was the cottage to stay at, and there were few places in the British Isles quite so secure to keep a werewolf. By the time fall term rolled around, if things went well, if there were no setbacks, if he was completely sure of being back to normal ... perhaps the cage at Hogwarts could be used again.

Privately, Remus doubted he'd ever feel that secure. Full moons from now on would mean the cottage. It was close enough, and it was remote.

"And you'll not have to brew this potion for me again, Merlin willing."

Beware Wizards bearing gifts. Sunday, April 29th ~*~ Afternoon

Daphne clutched the two wrapped gifts tightly to her chest as she moved across the short walkway to Snape's front door. She could see a dark shadow slowly start to detach itself from the side of the house, and that was her cue to stop and drop down to one knee. With a bit of juggling, Daphne shifted both gifts to one arm, and pulled a tart wrapped in a napkin out of her pocket.

"Hello, Claudius. Remember me?" She waited until the dog cocked its head to the side to unwrap her bribe. "Treacle. I know you like that one."

Suddenly the formerly cautious guard dog was all flopping tongue and wagging tail, and Daphne laughed as she tossed it the tart.

"If only it were that easy when we're dealing with Mister Snape."

Is this official business? Monday, April 23rd - Early Evening

Severus heard the bell over the shoppe door tinkle, and ignored it for the moment. The small vial of Re'em blood had cost more than the Apothecary earned in a week, and he wasn't about to risk spoilage by not storing it correctly. He carefully inspected the seal to make sure it was air tight, and set the vial inside a padded container.

Once he was satisfied, he stopped to wash his hands, and then ventured out into the shoppe proper.

"Can I help you find something?"

I can see my lifetime piling up I can see it smashing into yours It was not as accident at all Open those windows up - I hear you laughing Monday, April 2 :: Night

The moon brought with it territorial instincts, heightening the need to grasp and claim what was his — which was precisely what Lupin must not do. Laying beside Izabel the past few nights had the long stretches of celibacy that characterized his early adulthood seem a trifle in comparison.

He was irritated when not around her, and ill-tempered when in her company, and all in all he simply thought it best to ward the Shrieking Shack for all contingencies, most especially last month's menagerie.

That done, Remus sat, disturbing a few dust bunnies, and attempted to read while waiting for Snape.

Marriage has no guarantees. If that's what you're looking for, go live with a car battery. ~ Erma Bombeck Sunday, April 1st ~ Morning

Following Daphne around the house that morning, Harry was trying to figure out exactly what was going on. She'd appeared nervous and the more he followed her, the more nervous she got.

Sitting down at the kitchen table, he watched while she fiddled with something.

"Daph? Are you alright?"

What's an elf to do?

Wednesday, March 14th ~ Late Morning

Dobby had long since cleaned up the room where the reception had been and the guests had all left the night before. Winky had insisted on going back to Draco's flat and that left Dobby at loose ends, therefore, he'd been skulking around the hallway outside their bedroom for nearly four hours, hoping one of them would holler his name. Miss Daphne's mother had sent a package for her several hours ago and Dobby was afraid she really needed it.

Mr. Harry Potter is always awake long before now.

But that was before dearly beloveds.

To celebrate the joining of Harry James Potter and Daphne Diane Greengrass in the bonds of matrimony.

Tuesday, March 13th ~ Early Evening

Hedwig had nearly flown herself into exhaustion, but each of the handful of invitations had made it to their intended recipients in record time.

The ceremony was small and quick. The bride wore the same robes her mother had been married in, the groom a suit. Their friends had gathered in the window room over looking the lake, and Severus Snape gave the bride away.

Desperate times call for desperate measures. Tuesday, March 13th ~ Late Afternoon

When the package arrived, Severus almost didn't bother opening it. There was work to be done at the shoppe, and he needed to get back. The letter that had been attached slid to the floor when he tossed the entire thing onto one of the kitchen cabinets, and it was only as he bet over to pick it up and saw the return address from a solicitor in London.

The letter was an apology for not sending the package last week. The package revealed a journal which only made his confusion grow.

That confusion quickly turned into horror as Severus read the last entry.

Event of my death - therefore - I'm dead... That couldn't be possible, he'd just seen Potter a few hours ago and these idiot solicitors were claiming they were supposed to have sent the journal a week ago... Unless they had managed to screw up even more and sent the thing early?

What if Potter was planning to do the deed that very night?

He rushed to the fireplace and tossed in a handful of powder, calling out for Mrs. Crockford at the Phoenix.

"I need to speak with Potter!"

You and I - may kill ourselves You and I - go straight to hell Saturday, March 3 • Dusk

Up before dawn, simply because of restlessness and not because the moon called and would not be denied. Out to the woods, to fell trees and split lumber with an axe, not a wand.

Neither rocks nor words helped to drive the black dog off during the day's toil, but if Sirius wasn't smart enough to take care of himself, so be it. Ropes and a stunner served to make sure Lupin's trip toward Hogsmeade, when at last it came time, was made alone.

Remus slipped inside the Shrieking Shack, well before dark fell, to fashion a cage amidst the dust and shadows.

Bone-weary, half dead ... and knowing it hadn't done any good at all, that within hours the wolf would still be at full strength. He could feel its eagerness.

“I hope, that in the end, we acknowledge that we should be advisers, mentors, teachers and coaches. And when it comes to family and individual decisions, not be the all-knowing father figure of the past. We must care about them; care about them passionately. We must care about them, not for them.”

~ Charles Abell

Saturday, March 2nd - Early Afternoon

After much consideration, Severus decide there was no point in putting off talking to Potter any longer than necessary. He had already committed himself to spending the night watching the Wolf at the Shrieking Shack, why not top the day off with a quick visit to the Boy Who Grew Up To Be The Thorn In His Side and tell him to stay the hell away from Draco. Get all the annoying errands run at the same time.

Which is how he found himself knocking on the door of Glen Hollow and asking the elf to find Mister Potter and let him know Severus Snape was there for a "visit".

Romance and all its strategy leaves me battling with my pride But through the insecurity some tenderness survives I'm just another writer, still trapped within my truths A hesitant prize fighter still trapped within my youth

Thursday, March 1st ~ Late Afternoon

"I want... I need, more than what we have. I want to get married. I want a family. With you, ideally."

No amount of alcohol, physical exercise or reckless rides on the motorcycle seemed to wash Daphne's words out of Harry's mind. The expression on her face when he told her he couldn't give them to her haunted him as well. Nightmares had returned with a vengeance cloaked in more pleasurable beginnings.

Izabel never had been much good at lying or at sending cryptic messages. After three crumpled and then torn up sheets of parchment, she didn't even try. If it fell into someone else's hands the most she could do was make it appear they wrote on a regular basis and she was merely passing on news.

( Dear Severus,Collapse )

When you love someone, and you love them with your heart, it never disappears when you are apart. ~ Unknown Monday, February 26th ~*~ Evening

For the second time in as many days Daphne looked up when someone entered her office and her welcoming smile faded. This time it wasn't because Harry was standing in the doorway, it was because he wasn't.

"Mister Snape."

She'd asked Harry for time to think, to figure out if she was really going to give up what they had just because she had hoped for more. At the time she'd known what she'd been asking for, but the consequences hadn't quite sunk in until now. No more walks home. It's what you asked for, idiot. No one to blame but yourself.

"I take it you're to be my escort this evening?"

And sometimes when we touch the honesty's too much and I have to close my eyes and hide I wanna hold you till I die till we both break down and cry I want to hold you till the fear in me subsides

Monday, February 26th ~ Morning

Monday mornings to Doris were like Friday nights to most other people. She lived for Mondays with the complicated little tangles that could result from the enthusiastic pursuits of those less levelheaded than she was over their weekends. Plus she always had the Phoenix to herself if she went in early to prepare those nice homey little touches she prided herself on.

And she always did.

The supreme irony of life is that hardly anyone gets out of it alive. ~ Robert A. Heinlein Friday, February 9th ~ Early Evening

After Remus had been persuaded to eat a little and fell deeply asleep, Harry felt it was safe to leave him alone. Suicide had been danced around and the topic introduced without actually bringing it out in the open, but once the older wizard had recovered - it might rear its ugly head again. Closing the bedroom door behind him, Harry softly called for Dobby and instructed him to ask Snape if he would like to stay for dinner and if the answer was yes or no to take care of it on his own. He had other matters to see to.
