Michigan Central Station gets into the Halloween spirit (original) (raw)
The old train station has been lit up for Halloween this week, as Ford preps the building for a haunted house for the neighborhood.
Ford is hosting the event mainly for residents of Corktown and Hubbard Farms. 800 tickets were given out earlier this month, and tonight, guests will have the opportunity to tour the long-vacant train station decked out for Halloween. Kids activities—including slime making, pumpkin painting, and mask making—trick-or-treating stations, and live music will be set up in the hall of the train station.
No ticket? Ford will have a line of vehicles in front of the train station for a trunk-or-treat event, complete with gravestones and decorations in Roosevelt Park. The public is welcome to attend.
The haunted house and outdoor trick-or-treating events run from 4-8 p.m. this evening.
The event is a collaboration between Ford, the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, Christman Brinker, and non-profit organizations including SER Metro Trade Program, Michigan Science Center, The Parade Company, Teen Hype, and the Corktown Historical Society.
