Effect of FIKK7.1 and FIKK12 on the membrane shear elastic modulus of P. falciparum IEs.
Membrane shear elastic modulus of individual uninfected erythrocytes or IEs (FCR3, FIKK7.1-KO or FIKK12-KO) was measured by micropipette aspiration. Uninfected erythrocytes are non-parasitized erythrocytes taken from parasite cultures. Each point represents the shear elastic modulus for an individual erythrocyte. Solid horizontal bars represent the mean of all data in each group.
