A) Comparison of PMA and EMA PCR with limited dilution FFU assays. PMA and EMA measurements were performed on normal and heat-inactivated (dead) cells of C. burnetii. FFU assays were performed to validate PMA-PCR measurements. B) C. burnetii strains were exposed with PMA and the genomic DNA yield was expressed as a percentage of alive cells corresponding to non-PMA-treated sample.
