Previous Entry Flag Next EntryFirst off, thank you all for bearing with us so well while kneedeep and I try to figure out how the LJ-book club aspect of this community is going to work out. We've not been neglecting you all on purpose, promise! As for Genderqueer, lots of people seem to be reading it, or have read it, so I'd like to pose the first question: what was your favorite chapter/story, and why? That might help us guide discussion toward aspects we know you want to focus on.

When I first read it, maybe two years ago?, my absolutely favorite part was Riki Wilchins' essays at the beginning. I used to carry around photocopied versions of them to give out to people, because it seemed to explain things I was feeling in a mostly non-threatening, kind of funny way that still included references to theory. Now I think it's a little over the top for my personal tastes, though. At this point my favorite story is Liminal, because I love the end - I just think it's so beautiful.
