food_porn - Profile (original) (raw)

on 10 August 2002 (#663324)

A community for people who understand that food - preparing it, eating it, sharing it and discussing it - is life's second-most-enjoyable pleasure. Recipes, lovingly detailed descriptions of delicious dishes and meals are encouraged; food voyeurs also welcomed.

Photos are welcome, but not required. Please be considerate and put all photos wider than 600 pixels behind an LJ-cut. If you have more than one picture, please put only one before the lj-cut. Failure to do so will result in the deletion of your post. Continual disregard of this rule will result in being banned.

If you don't know how to lj-cut, these are very good instructions, right from the goat's mouth.

While we play rather fast and loose with what's considered on-topic, if it doesn't concern food, cooking, eating or anything to do with gastronomy, it should be posted somewhere else.

With such a large community it can be hard to find things sometimes. So, it's important to remember to tag your entries so that other people can use find them in the future.

So What Qualifies as Food Porn?
There are many varying interpretations of the phrase, “food porn” So we're going to have to walk the fine line of being clear without being creatively restrictive. Most people tend to agree that, food_porn should:

Most people also seem to agree that food_porn shouldn't:

These rules are not the be all end all of food_porn. Naturally as artists sometimes we come up with great ideas that don't necessarily fit the guidelines set before us, this is where discretion and good judgment come into play.

We at food_porn are well aware that deliciousness is on the tongue of the eater, we won't try to dictate what is porny and what is not, but we do want to set some kind of standard so that our beloved community stays true to its roots. This is a community for people with a genuine appreciation for food that want a place to gather where they can enjoy each other's creations. However, LJ has more than a few communities where you can get any cooking advice you might need.

If you're unsure about whether or not your post would be suitable for this community, we suggest considering a post to one of LJ's other fine communities:

can_i_eat_this
trashy_eats
budget_gourmet

If you see a post that you don't think belongs in the community, please write to [foodpornmods @ gmail . com](http://foodpornmods @ gmail.com . com) (taking out the extra spaces in the address), and one of the mods will look into it (please include the link to the post in question). Commenting on the post is not necessary.

We prefer there be as little cross-posting as possible.

If you post a recipe from a published source, please note that in your post. Do not post any copyrighted material without attribution. Please do not post entire cookbooks or collections of recipes unless you own the copyright or have written permission from the copyright holder.

Please do not advertise another community or website here without a moderator's approval Posts containing nothing but a link or links to another site with little or no other content will be treated as advertising posts. Doing so will result in the post being deleted. Doing so multiple times will result in the posts being deleted and the poster being banned.

No being a twit for the sake of twittiness. We're all old enough to know what being a jerk for jerk's sake is. Please be polite when offering constructive criticism. Abusive language will be grounds for banning. The mods will generally ask that the behavior cease before banning, but in cases of extreme behavior there may be no warning.

No disabling or screening of comments in the posts and no deleting of comments that aren't yours in a post. If you believe that a comment of yours has been deleted or if you feel that a thread should be deleted, please contact the mods. Decisions of the mods are final.

Play nice. Have fun!
