F Acht Ka and the long golden dawn (original) (raw)

It's a beautiful clear day outside. I've been up almost all the night.

Last night was Furry 8000, an ad-hoc Internet radio show run every few months by the Usual Suspects of the German furry crowd. They always make a party out of it: they get a bunch of friends over, lay in food, cook food, and then do their teamwork, each to their own specialty of networking or hosting or sound-engineering. It's a quick-fire concoction of music and phone-ins and comedic sketches, most of which I still can't fully understand... maybe next time.

akeela is one of the hosts, so I get to go along as ancillary staff: Aki's not much good for driving home after seven hours at the microphone. So I curl up, drowse, talk to people in whichever language seems easiest at the time, and if it all gets too much then I can always read my book. And it was nice; I was glad to be there. I drowsed for an hour in the early morning, and then it was time to take Aki home.

I drank a glass of Coke to pep me up for the drive back, with the inevitable consequence: by the time we got home, I was far too caffeinated to sleep. So I took Mischa for a walk instead, trotting with him over the first hard frost in a month, and we walked in the new day from black starlit night, through dawn's first blush, to full daylight with the distant clouds reflecting brilliant sunlight from just below the horizon.

I could sleep now, but I'm more inclined to just have a cup of tea and muscle through 'til the evening.
