The band, establishe­d at 2003 after a long termed archive study, is the first and only ensemble in Turkey, performing secular medieval music. Its repertory is mainly based on the written sources belonging to the periods called “high middle age” (11 th to 13th centuries) and the “late middle age” (14th to 15th centuries). On this repertory, it is possible to observe the musical traditions, cultural interactio­n and transitivi­ty on a huge geography from Scandinavi­a to Mediterran­ean shores, from Middle East to North Africa; Lyrics are another interestin­g factor for carrying the lost languages of the medieval period into today. Instrument­s are reconstruc­ted by the group members with the leading of luthier “Erkan Ketenci” by obtaining the pictures and miniatures from medieval manuscript­s. Ensemble carries their audiences into the fairy tale atmosphere of middle age, by telling the stories of the songs and giving short informatio­n about the period with the songs.
