The study period was from 1982-83 to 2011-12 and it had been divided into three periods: 1982-83 to 1991-92, 1992-93 to 2001-02, 2002-03 to 2011-12 to have an understanding of decadal performance. The results clearly showed that the growth rate performance of area, production and yield of oilseed in the region declined sharply from period 1 to 3. The study witnessed that more than half of the area under the crop in the region suffered from low growth rate in production. The comparison of production growth rates in all the periods revealed that Nagaland show better performance followed by Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Sikkim while Assam, Manipur and Tripura are running behind. Performance of Nagaland was even better than the north east total and national level. Area growth was also best achieved by Nagaland followed by Arunachal ...

Distributional properties and common descriptive measures pertaining to this mixed distribution are derived. The behaviour of the probability mass function with variations in the parameters is also studied. Estimation of parameters by the method of maximum likelihood and method of moments are discussed and a simulation study is carried out to check the consistency of the maximum likelihood estimates. Finally, the proposed distribution is applied to real-data sets and it is seen that this distribution is a flexible model that may be a useful alternative to known distributions like Poisson, Poisson Lindley, Two-parameter Poisson Lindley and many others for count data analysis. This study primarily provides a new approach to identify motifs which are considered to play an important role to determine functional or structural class of any protein. Coconut palm (Cocos nucifera L.) root (wilt) disease (CRWD) became a serious concern for coconut cultivation in the coastal region of South India. It has already been reported that species of the phytoplasma (-belonging to ribosomal group 16SrXI) is primarily associated with CRWD. In this study, our objective is to modify an existing motif identification algorithm, and also identify motifs that describe their conserved region within a CRWD phytoplasma protein sequence. Accordingly, the existing information content measure formulas for a no-gapped and gapped aligned sequence set were reformulated. Further, an improvement on both these existing measures has been vied by incorporating prior information of BLOSUM90 substitution matrix. Results showed that proposed modifications could successfully identify N-terminal myristoylation motif within an alignment matrix of Arabidopsis thaliana sequences; concurrently our modification has also been validated. Both the approaches, namely frequency-and BLOSUM90-based information content, have been compared using the observed results, in terms of identified motifs. Finally, we could also test this noble BLOSUM90-based approach to correctly predict conserved regions at locations, (163-171) and (117-138), in an aligned secA gene sequence set of phytoplasma, an etiological agent of CRWD.

Product moment of bivariate pseudo WIGD has been obtained. Distribution of -th concomitant of order statistics for the resulting distribution has been obtained with some ordering properties. An extension to bivariate concomitant for trivariate pseudo WIGD also has been discussed. Concomitant of second order upper record statistics and joint distribution of second and fourth order concomitant of upper record statistics for bivariate pseudo WIGD have been studied along with their properties. Numerical values of survival functions have been computed for comparison of concomitant of order statistics and record statistics. This study reveals that for both concomitant of order statistics and concomitant of second order upper record statistics for WIGD survival probability decreases as time increases for fixed values of the para...

Using a panel data modeling (province wide), the paper provides an econometrics assessment of the relationship between crime against properties and violent crimes as functions of deterrent, social, economic and demographic factors in Iran, in the framework of Becker-Ehrlich crime supply theory. The findings indicate that, although deterrence hypothesis is not confirmed for burglary and assault, it explains the variations of murders and threats. Economic factors play key role in burglary and threat explanation, but they do not affect willful murders, however Literacy explains both murders and threats. Average of families' income is explored as a deterrent factor for crime against properties.

The accession numbers have been taken from the article Cho et al. where it has already been used for other studies. The accession number for DNA, i.e., A, C, G and T along with the gap character (–) have been converted into alignment matrix with 5 rows and 7473 columns. The alignment has been done using ClustalX software. The 7473 columns have been alienated into 5 parts with different dimensions. Later for each part scoring has been done separately. Highest scores from all the 5 parts have been noted down. To minimize the data, the common regions between these 5 parts have been taken into consideration. Later one way ANOVA (Huck and McLean in Psychological Bulletin, 82(4), 511–518,1975; Mukhopadhyay in Applied statistics. Books and Allied (P) Ltd., Kolkata, 2011) has been constructed and conclusions are drawn accordingly.

Several linear normalization within arrays approaches has already been proposed. Recently, use of non-linear methods has been gained quite attention. In this study, our objective is to formulate non-linear normalization methods using support vector regression (SVR) and support vector machine quantile regression (SVMQR) approaches, more easier way and, assess the consistency of these methods with respect to other standard normalization methods for further application in gene expression data. SVR and SVMQR normalization methods have been implemented and their performance have been evaluated with respect to other standard normalization methods namely, locally weighted scatter plot smoothing and Kernel regression. The proposed model is capable of explaining systems with high failure rates within a short interval of time. The proposed model also performs well for relatively small sample sizes. The various statistical properties of the proposed model are presented such as moments, mean and variance, skewness and kurtosis, reliability functions and Shannon entropy. The maximum likelihood as well as moment estimators are explored. A simulation study compares the performance of the estimators against the true value of the parameters. Finally, the proposed distribution is fitted to a real dataset.

Fraction is obtained by replacing the first order time derivative in the difference differential equations which govern the probability law of the process with the Mittag-Leffler function. We derive the probability distribution of the number N(t) of patients suffering from severe disease at an arbitrary time t. We also obtain the mean size (number) of the patients suffering from severe disease waiting for service at any given time t, in the form of E ν 0.5,0.5 (t), for different fractional values of server activity status, ν = 1, 0.95, 0.90 and for arrival rates α = β = 0.5. A numerical example is also evaluated and analysed by using the simple Markovian model with the help of simulation techniques.

The results indicated that the treatments which received fly ash @ 5 and 15 t ha−1 alone recorded a yield increase of 23.3 and 32.4 per cent, respectively over absolute control. The highest rice yield (3.41 t ha−1) was achieved in treatment 50% RDF + FYM 5 t ha−1 + FA 15 t ha−1. On the other hand, fly ash applied @ 5 t ha−1 in combination with RDF 50% + FYM 5 t ha−1 produced 40.1 per cent more yield over absolute control. The addition of fly ash resulted in significant increase in pH, EC, organic C, CEC and available nutrient in the post-harvest soil. The study revealed fly ash as a suitable material for improving crop yield as well as soil fertility.

Case Report: We describe a case of a 35yearold female who presented with symptoms and sign of a supraglottic carcinoma. The patient presented with progressive hoarseness of two month's duration. Direct fiberoptic laryngoscopy showed a polypoidal growth involving the supraglottic larynx. Tissue sections from the growth showed epithelioid granuloma with Langhans giant cells. Ziehl-Neelsen staining on the tissue section showed the presence of scanty acidfast bacilli. No primary foci of tuberculosis were detected anywhere else in the body by clinical, radiological and examination of acidfast bacilli in the bronchioalveolar lavage fluid. Conclusion: Awareness of existence of isolated primary laryngeal tuberculosis is important especially in endemic areas. In case of diagnosis of laryngeal tuberculosis all effort should be made to look for an active or inactive lesion elsewhere in the body before diagnosing as primary laryngeal tuberculosis.
