| A disappointing day at work. First a colleague sent an email to our internal tech list with the title "Evil HTML trick" and a "Click Here" link to what transpired to be a Java exploit that produced a fullscreen window that could not be closed or moved away from. This was, inevitably, followed by a number of annoyed emails from colleagues mad enough to click the link. Next a colleague jokingly mailed round a (genuine) fork bomb with what he hoped was an obviously sarcastic "Try running this!" message.Yeah, you can guess where this is going. There's always going to be someone who doesn't know what a 'fork bomb' is and, lo, someone found out by running it on the main development server. Smacked heads all round. We're a techy company - but there's no accounting for curiosity and naivety. | | | | | | |

| In other news, I spent the weekend out of London for what I think is the first time this year. Many thanks to Mark and Neil for looking after me and Neil especially for another fabulous Sunday dinner. All the small touches he adds to make everything just perfect leave me somewhat embarrassed that I never cook for myself (not that that's going to change). We went and saw In Bruges at the cinema on Sunday and, as Neil noted, it plays very much like a British Tarantino film. Most of the film is focussed on the characters and on their witty, obscenity-laden dialogue - though it has its brief gruesome moments. Definitely worth seeing though I can't help but feel that the advertising for it is misleading. Don't go expecting a Bourne movie - In Bruges is smarter, funnier and darker but unfolds at a gentle pace. | | | | | | |
