How I Met Your Mother secret santa community.

Sign-ups for 2008 are now open

himym_santa is a Secret Santa gift exchange following in the footsteps of many wonderful Secret Santas in years gone by, not least btvs_santa and serenity_santa!

Christmas is a time when people are lonely and desperate, it's the most wonderful time of the year. Are you a fan of HIMYM? Would you like to receive icons, or fic, or whatever else, based on your favourite characters or couples from the show? Would you like to give someone else that same priviledge? Then you're in the right place!

When you walk through the door, does it feel like you are being slapped in the face by Christmas?
From November 1st until November 25th, you can post your wishlist. Then at the end of the month, you'll receive an email from me with the name of another community member, and a link to their wishlist. You can make/request anything you like, fic, vids, icons, wallpapers, fanmixes - anything you can think of! I'll do my best to match wishlists based on what you say you can and can't do, so you shouldn't receive anybody wishing for something you specifically request not to do.

All you have to do is join the community and post a wishlist, any time between now and November 25th. This wishlist should be in a new post and contain the following information:

Email address: (this is important so that we can send your assignment, and can be emailed to us at himym.santa@googlemail.com if you would rather not post it in public)
What I'd like: Please don't just request one thing, give your Santa some options. For example, feel free to just request one character or pairing, as long as you're willing to accept fic and graphics. Or if you want only fic or icons, try to give your Santa a few options when it comes to character.
What I can do: Again, the more options you give us, the better chance of matching you with an assignment you can do.
What I absolutely can't do. If you have a pairing that squicks you, or a character you can't write, or you can't make graphics, etc, let us know here. We want everybody to be happy with the assignment they receive.
Are you willing to provide a backup contribution? With the best will in the world, there'll inevitably be some Santas who can't complete their assignment due to unavoidable circumstances. We may as for backup contributors so that everybody who acts as Santa, definitely gets their request fulfilled. Saying no is a perfectly acceptable answer if you can't or don't want to! This will most likely happen in early January when we get an idea of people who are still waiting to receive their gifts.

Here are the important dates:
* Signups are open from November 1st to November 24th.
* Assignments will be sent out by e-mail around December 1st.
* As soon as you receive your assignment, you may start making teaser gifts. This part is entirely optional! Up until December 23rd, if you wish to send your recipient any extra gifts or messages, email them to us at himym.santa@googlemail.com and we'll post them, anonymously.
* Post your final gift or gifts to the community any time between December 24th and January 1st, revealing your identity. If you won't be online during this time, feel free to email this to himym.santa@googlemail.com letting us know, and we'll post it for you.
* Please do your best to complete your gifts on time, or let us know as soon as possible if you believe you'll be unable to do so. Any time after January 1st we'll start looking for backup contributors.

What's expected? Your final gift(s) should be substantial (three or four icons would probably be disappointing unless they were incredibly fabulous icons), but need not be enormous. Virtual gifts only--you should not be spending money on these gifts but should be exercising your creativity.
