The music was me, inside me, expanding. I suddenly was struck with a creative spirit and just started free-versing this poem that came to me out of the air, out of my head, out of teh music. I can't remember a word of it now, but as I was saying it aloud to myself it was the truest most sincere thing I ever remember having created. Music does that to me. It's a different state of mind.My favorie bands/performers are:Grateful DeadLed ZeppelinStrangefolkDave Matthews BandLiveEric ClaptonIncubusPhishTom PettyJ J CaleThe DoorsJimmi HendrixAnd I'm always looking for new music all the time(2 comments | Leave a comment)From:inertial_mind Date:January 5th, 2005 02:20 pm (UTC) **(Link)**that's a great story! i know exactly what you mean when you say that the music was "inside you." it's like sometimes, it just hits you and it momentarily takes over your mind and soul. in particular, it happens to me most often when i'm listening to Bob Dylan, whether it be because of the way he delivers one of his verses or because i'm finally able to reinterpret something he says so that applies to something going on in my life.... whatever it is, it's like a wave of enlightenment passes through your body, and the foggy haze that fills the universe lifts for a moment and everything is clear and has perspective. so i've never heard Strangefolk, although I've always wanted to. are they more like the dead (folky) or more like phish (rockish)? and i'm glad someone else has join this group, i created it last summer and you're the first person who's posted ... ever!(Reply) (Thread) [User Picture]From:dealgodown Date:January 13th, 2005 11:11 pm (UTC) **(Link)**well I will be posting more int he future too. I think its great to have a page to talk about music; it's such a huge part of my life and how I define things. Strangefolk is more folky like the dead. Definitely an excellent jam band to see live. I recently went to a show in Burlington, VT at High Ground. The Seth Yacavone Band opened for them, and Strangefolk was awesome. I like their old stuff better, but the music is still that bluesey folk that just rings true in your soul. If you're going to buy a cd, get Lore, its my favorite.(Reply) (Parent) (Thread)
