The Harry Potter "Deathly Hallows" Abstinence Society

Dedicated to abstaining from reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows for AT LEAST one year and a day.

Created for four main reasons: 1) dislike of the way JKR characterized some of the characters, 2)reluctance to formally "end" a good thing, 3)desire to retain ability to twist around the ending without knowingly deforming canon, and 4)lowered expectations and prices of the book.

Rules:

  1. All members agree to not read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows for at least one year and a day, after which they will be free to do whatever they will.

  2. All members CAN read spoilers, excerpts from the book, etc. so long as they DO NOT reveal the entire plot, story, or ending. Members are also allowed to post any snippets/etc. they wish in the community, provided they do so under a LiveJournal cut and with a warning.

  3. All members CANNOT physically pick up a book and read the ENTIRE THING from beginning to end. Purchase of the book is allowed so long as the book is never COMPLETELY READ during the time period.

  4. All members CAN discuss any of the permissible materials in rule #2 with any other member in the forum or even outside of the forum, so long as the participants in the discussions DO NOT reveal the entire plot, story, or ending of Deathly Hallows.

  5. All members will include the Deathly Hallows "A Year and a Day" banner in any Harry Potter related posts outside of the Harry Potter - A Year and a Day forum to inform all readers of the restrictions imposed upon the poster if any comments in reply to aformentioned message may cause the revealment of the entire plot, story, or ending of Deathly Hallows.
