The review focused on the change management processes that address leaders' and employees' attitudes and how change management is created, as a catalyst for possible changes in an organization. The purpose of change management is ultimately to make use of initiatives and ensure that every employee in an organization is willing and ready to switch over to an anticipated new role in the organization. This current study evaluated the relationship between evaluated management of change in organizational leadership, change, and organization, management of change, the importance of change management, and principles of change management, other areas visited are types of organizational change, popular models for managing change, overcoming resistance to change, challenges of change management, how change management are created viz-à-viz ideas, thoughts, feelings, plans, habits, commitment, lifestyle, and change. The review concluded that consistently and effectively navigating change requires strong leadership because, in the end, it is the employees who will execute the new strategy in their day-today work lives. Leaders must be able to inspire people through a strong vision, define the strategy, communicate effectively, support their employees, and maintain the energy and commitment to change through to completion. The study recommends amongst others that organizational leaders should not undermine the power of ideas in their move toward change management, and should not underestimate thoughts, feelings, plans, and habits as an essential component of the change management process.

The purpose of this study is to determine whether the character of institutional leadership is central to the management of higher education (HE). First, the study x-rayed the role of character in institutional leadership and management of HE. Second, it highlights the character of institutional leadership in combination with values, morals, principles and ethics in the management of HE, and third, the implication of the character of institutional leadership on the quality of HE. To address the descriptive part of this study, this article reviewed literature on the relationship between the character of institutional leadership with particular focus on values, morals, principles and ethics, and the quality of HE management. The empirical part of this article included the collection of data from 250 respondents through a structured questionnaire, and data were analyzed using the statistical package for the social sciences (SPSS) version 21. While the suggestive part portrayed the study's findings, which redolent that the neglect of the role of character in institutional leadership as being central to HE management might possibly explain the dysfunctional and poor quality state of HE particularly in Nigeria and perhaps many sub-Saharan Africa countries. Therefore, appointment of institutional heads should be based on technical qualification and character of institutional leaders, and must be a continual effort towards the integration of positive thoughts, both in words and in actions. The target audiences for this article include educational managers and planners, researchers, academics, professionals, students, and leadership practitioners.

The chapter makes the finding that universities are too bloated, by carrying out functions, which in Wales could be better handled by the public sector that is under direct control of the Welsh Government's education minister. This would involve learning from how the telecoms and energy companies work UK wide, so that HEFCfW becomes an infrastructure provider, Estyn would become responsible for ensuring the equality of access to higher education and ensuring the standards of university education. Universities would thus consist mainly of teaching and research staff, optimising how they use the infrastructure to attract the most students to their degrees, which are homogenised. The chapter makes clear, however, that whilst this policy would likel...

Formal education introduced by the colonialists was supposed to be the main vehicle to use to equip individuals with the most practical, applicable and relevant basic and advanced knowledge and skills for the upliftment of communities and the states to be able to support social mobility in a positive way. However, educational reforms and innovations that were introduced by the new governments of the new independent African countries, on the contrary, encouraged unnecessary and uncontrollable mushrooming of institutions that never provided the most needed relevant and applicable skills. In many cases, these were done as a ploy to satisfy politicians and their constituencies. Schools had no facilities, qualified teachers, appropriate textbooks, libraries, laboratories and workshops and above all qualified educational administrators. The primary and secondary systems and their graduates suffered the blunt of the mushrooming of schools and the pillaging of school graduates with no marketable skills to sell to prospective employers leaving millions of these graduates roaming our city and town streets. To date, not much have been done to contain the production of unskilled secondary school graduates. This paper will highlight the problem of unemployable secondary school graduates in Africa and attempt to provide innovative suggestions and recommendations for the kind of secondary education provision, which Africa requires in the twenty-first century to be able to eliminate secondary school graduates wastage.

Yet, considerable debate remains over the most efficient techniques and procedures to measure students and faculties IT/IS use. In most developing countries, the challenges associated with carrying out IT/IS measurements are different from those in developed countries, as are the methods for selecting appropriate IT/IS contents. The thrust of this chapter is to examine IT/S contents with a view to analyse their meaning and impact on educational offerings. This study gathered data using a five item demographic variable and a fifty item questionnaire to measure student and faculty academic IT/IS use in two universities in Nigeria. This study is based on the 191 responses received to the questionnaire. The results reveal significant differences between the academic use of IT/IS by students and faculty members. This groundbreaking study recommends that universities become valuable and proactive actors in the provision of technology based learning, teaching and research for students and academic staff so as to foster an effective academic environment aimed at meeting MDG education goals. This scholarly discourse has implication for researchers, education practitioners, planners, policy makers and government.

This article is a conceptual and methodological breakthrough in Nigeria's academic land- scape where qualitative and quantitative experiences highlight issues that are pertinent to the educational development in The Niger Delta. Diverse statistical analyses were conducted using the Statistical Package of the Social Sciences version 18 to assess the study 's hypotheses. It was predicted that the region would be advanced educationally and on all other development indices if human security issues are resolved. This paper contends that the Niger Delta region has the potential to address the challenges currently faced by Nigeria including social disruption, poverty, hunger, disease, conflict, marginalisation, and the achievement of the movement for Education For All by 2015. This paper is of the opinion that the successful integration of the Niger Delta region into federal planning, structures and funding will enhance development, livelihoods, and human security not only for the region but also for Nigeria's educational development.

In 2000, the United Nations solemnly reaffirmed the international development goals and as a result, the priority attached to a concerted fight for quality education has taken on a new dimension. This paper assesses the extent to which the Nigerian Government has made determined efforts to ensuring that quality education agendas are met. The study employs a quantitative approach to data collection and analysis. The results reveal that Nigeria is doing very little when it comes to achieving quality education towards meeting the millennium development goals (MDGs). Recommendations are proffered. This academic work is addressed to the Nigerian Government, National University Commission, Ministry of Education, education planners, researchers and development practitioners.

The MDGs declaration helped awaken nations to the need for structural features that empower education policy makers and planners in creating effective educational systems. A survey was used to gather data from teachers and school administrators in Nigeria. The data suggested that both teachers and school administrators are discontented with the lethargic policies and implementation of programs in meeting global standards. In particular, the empiric data could be useful for education policymakers, planners, administrators, and researchers who need information that might help them to improve their activities and deal with the controversial issues.
