For these necessary safeguards particularly against sea cruise in the area of maritime safety because Indonesia greatly affect development efforts, especially the continuation of transport activity. Maritime transport holds a very important role in maritime countries, such as in Indonesia whose territory is an archipelago. Associated with maritime transport, there are three aspects that are interlinked with each other, i.e. traffic and sea transportation, port and also the safety and security of the cruise.

However, a lot of ship accidents occur every year due to many factors, and claim a large number of casualties. Efforts which have been taken to improve the safety of domestic sea transportation to fully comply with the SOLAS (Safety of Live at Sea) regulations regarding to the International Maritime Organization (IMO) convention, are worsened by varying sea and cargo characteristics, low educated passengers who are at risk and are very vulnerable to accidents. There are many accidents happened in sea transportation in Indonesia, especially during 2005 until 2010, which mostly are due to human errors and only a few caused by natural and other factors. Most of the accidents occur due to low awareness on the aspects of security and safety. As an alternative to this problem, waste plastic disposal is suggested to be reused in filling the displaced volume of the designed rescue boat. The main objective of this paper is to design a fiberglass rescue boat that has arrangement of bottles under the waterline section of the original boat design. The arrangement of waste plastic bottles will avoid the rescue boat from sinking if fiberglass layer of the boat happened to cracked. The design rescue boat will count on density and quantity of waste plastic bottles used at the core of the boat.

Secondly, they are renewable as the vegetables which produce oil seeds can be planted year after year. Thirdly, they are friendly with our environment, as they seldom contain sulphur element in them. This makes vegetable fuel studies become current among the various popular investigations. This study is attempt to optimization of using blend FAME on diesel engine by experimental laboratory. The investigation experimental project is comparison between using blend FAME and base diesel fuel. The engine experiment is conducted with YANMAR TF120M single cylinder four stroke diesel engine set-up at variable engine speed with constant load. The data have been taken at each point of engine speed during the stabilized engine-operating regime. Measurement of emissions parameters at difference engine speed conditions have generally indicated lower in emission NOx, but slightly higher on CO2 emission. The result also shown that the blends FAME are good in fuel consumption and potentially good substitute fuels for diesel engine

Untuk kesemuanya itu diperlukan pengamanan terutama terhadap pelayaran di wilayah Indonesia karena keselamatan maritim sangat mempengaruhi usaha pembangunan kelanjutan terutama aktivitas transportasi laut. Kota Batam masuk dalam provinsi Kepulauan Riau. Provinsi Kepulauan Riau terletak pada lokasi yang sangat strategis mengingat berada di wilayah perbatasan antar negara, bertetangga dengan salah satu pusat bisnis dunia (Singapura) serta didukung oleh adanya jaringantransportasi laut internasional dengan lalu lintas yang ramai.
Transportasi Laut memegang peranan yang sangat penting di negara maritim seperti halnya Indonesia yang wilayahnya merupakan kepulauan. Terkait transportasi laut, terdapat 3 aspek yang saling terkait satu sama lain, yaitu lalu lintas dan sarana angkutan laut, kepelabuhanan, keselamatan dan keamanan pelayaran.
UU Nomor 17 tahun 2008 tentang pelayaran, dalam ketentuan umum dinyatakan bahwa keselamatan dan keamanan pelayaran adalah suatu keadaan terpenuhinya persyaratan keselamatan dan keamanan yang menyangkut di perairan, kepelabuhanan dan lingkungan maritim. Oleh karena itu semua pihak yang berkaitan dengan kegiatan pelayaran harus memenuhi persyaratan yang telah ditetapkan. Melalui langkah kongkrit, pemenuhan atas peraturan keselamatan dan keamanan pelayaran akan mewujudkan tingkat keselamatan dan keamanan yang tinggi. Oleh karena itu diharapkan jaminan keselamatan dan keamanan di bidang transportasi laut dapat mensinergikan pola pengawasan secara berkala terhadap pemenuhan aspek keselamatan dan keamanan yang telah ditetapkan.

Aktivitas perkembangan transportasi di Indonesia, khususnya transportasi laut semakin meningkat. Hal in imerupakan dampak dari aktivitas perekonomian dan aktifitas sosial budaya dan masyarakat. Penelitian ini merupakan lanjutan penelitian terdahulu yang mengambil topik penyeberangan laut antara Batam dan Singapura, meskipun lokasi di Indonesianya sama, tetapi objek penelitiannya berbeda dan keterbaruannya adalah akan dilihat apakah keinginan penduduk Batam dan terutama penduduk Malaysia untuk menggunakan penyeberangan ferry lintas Negara ini cukup besar disbanding antara Batam-Singapura. Selain itu akan diketahui perbandingan antara terminal dan pelabuhan di Malaysia dengan di Batam, jenis kapal penyeberangannya, termasuk juga dalam hal keselamatan dan keamanan penumpang pada kapal (alat-alat keselamatan) karena jarak tempuh Batam-Johor lebih jauh dari Batam-Singapura dan pelabuhan penyeberangan yang ada di Malaysia (dalam hal memberikan kenyamanan dan keamanan kepada penumpang) dibandingkan dengan pelabuhan di Batam. Selain itu keterbaruan penelitian ini adalah dalam rangka mempersiapkan ASEAN Connectivity di tahun 2015. Karena ketersambungan antar negara ASEAN tersebut, dinilai merupakan bagian penting dalam rangka mewujudkan terselenggaranya Masyarakat Ekonomi ASEAN tahun 2015 yang ditandai dengan pasar terbuka di Asia Tenggara. Kalau melalui jalur darat antara Indonesia – Malaysia sudah berlangsung dengan baik di perbatasan Kalimantan, tetapi jalur laut perlu dikembangkan lagi. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif studi kasus (case study) dan teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan studi literatur dan penelitian langsung melihat fakta di lapangan. Diharapkan dengan adanya 2 penelitian yang sekarang dan penelitian terdahulu, dapat dilihat bahwa faktor keselamatan dan keamanan khususnya pada terminal penyeberangan di 3 negara ASEAN akan sangat penting untuk mendukung terbukanya pasar bebas di ASEAN tahun 2015 ini.

Penelitian penyeberangan pada lintas Merak-Bakauheni dilakukan untuk menganalisis pergerakan orang dan barang dengan mendasarkan pada waktu pelayanan, • jumlah kapal penyeberangan, dan jumlah dermaga, sehingga dapat tercapai penyelenggaraan pelayanan angkutan penyeberangan Merak-Bakauheni yang cepat, tepat, aman, dan nyaman. All the needs of electrical power in supply from batteries being replenished by solar panels. Solar power become one of alternative energy to overcome the presence of the energy crisis especially a reduction in the availability of petroleum and the more expensive world oil prices. Major problems focused on design of electric system as power plant resources in the ship. The main issues discussed on is as follows: 1. Did design system supply resources and also calculation to determine battery and solar panels to be used. 2. Determine the laying on systems equipment. In this research, taking and analyzing data obtained from the results of the field by using the existing theory and make use of data from the internet and literature data. In duty end of this analysis conducted by the use of solar power as the supply of equipment lighting on a ship ferry Ro-Ro 500 GRT. Based on calculations data ship obtained a number of 35 solar panels that is attached to supply 10 batteries power by producing 42000 VA. Power is used to meet the needs of illumination burden 33600 VA to the discharging time 12 hours (from 18.00 – 6.00). So that the installation of solar systems can save energy by 52.5 % of the generator burden.

Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) approach is chosen as a risk assessment methodology in this paper to synthesize the potential failure modes and their associated causes for product design, especially in ship diesel engine. In this paper, the study proposes the fuel oil system in the ship diesel engine. Fuel oil system is extremely important system on a ship which is designed to supply clean fuel oil to main engine, diesel generators and emergency diesel generators. FMEA is an effective tool or technique used for identifying possible failures and mitigating their effects. In various life cycle phase of diesel engine, FMEA activities are executed, and detailed FMEA documents are usually used as reference. Design changes can be executed according to the existing FMEA documents, especially for the most dangerous failure modes with high prevention difficulty.
