The research examined the spread of internet addiction among tertiary institution students in Osu... more The research examined the spread of internet addiction among tertiary institution students in Osun State and examine the connection between social anxiety and internet addiction. The research used descriptive survey research methodology. A sample of 1,430 students were picked to be involved in the research using multi-stage sampling methodology. Information were gathered using an instrument titled ″Social Anxiety and Internet Addiction Questionnaire (SAIAQ). Information gathered were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Specifically, research questions one, two and three were answered using percentages and frequency counts. Research hypotheses one, two and four were tested using Pearson product moment correlation while hypotheses three, five and six were tested using ordinal logistic regression, multiple regression analysis respectively. It also looked into the correlation between perceived parental involvement and the social self-concept of students. The descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. The study population comprised all the students in the tertiary institution in Osun State. A total sample of 1,440 students was selected using a multi-stage sampling procedure. An instrument titled “Questionnaire on Perceived Parental Involvement and Social Self-Concept (QPPISSC)” was utilized to collect data. Data gotten were analysed using frequency counts, percentages, stepwise multiple regression analysis, point bi-serial correlation, and Pearson product-moment correlation analysis. The study investigated the Violent Disciplinary Practices (VDP) perpetrated by parents and by tea... more The study investigated the Violent Disciplinary Practices (VDP) perpetrated by parents and by teachers against secondary schools students. The study adopted a descriptive survey research design. Six hundred and sixteen participants comprising 336 and 280 parents and teachers, respectively, were selected to participate in the study. Two instruments were used to collect data for the study. Data were analysed using percentages and t test. The results indicated that most of the teachers (55.4%) demonstrated good knowledge of VDP, while only 9.3% of the parents showed similar level of knowledge, and there was a significant difference between the parents' and teachers' knowledge of what constitutes VDP (t = 24.174, p < 0.05). Based on these findings, recommendations were made accordingly.

The family is a paramount source of happiness, giving individuals a sense of place that is releva... more The family is a paramount source of happiness, giving individuals a sense of place that is relevant to developing satisfaction and fulfilment. Consequently, this study examined the attitude of retiring HeadMasters and Assistant HeadMasters' towards family involvement in pre-retirement preparation in Ondo State, Nigeria. Using descriptive survey, 150 participants were purposively drawn from three Local Government Areas accidentally selected for the study. ''Family Involvement in Pre-retirement Preparation Questionnaire (FIPPQ)'' was used for data collection. Data collected were analysed using descriptive statistics, t-test, and ANOVA. Descriptive results indicated participants' general poor knowledge on the need for family involvement in pre-retirement preparation, positive attitude towards family involvement and low actual involvement of their family in pre-retirement planning. Results of the tested hypotheses revealed that sex, educational qualification, and religion had no significant influence on the participants' attitude towards family involvement in pre-retirement preparation .Recommendations were made based on these findings.

It also investigated the predictive contribution of demographic factors on online sexual behaviour of students. Descriptive correlational design was adopted for the study. The population for the study consisted of all tertiary institution students in Osun State. A sample of 1600 students was selected to participate in the study. Online Sexual Behaviour Scale (OSBS) was the instrument designed and used to collect data for the study. Frequency counts was used to answer the research question while linear regression analysis used to test the research hypothesis. The findings showed that 34.1% of students sampled have experienced partnered-arousal with another person while 48.5% of them have experienced nonarousal. A pretest treatment of Azuka, Alutu and Aluede (2006) titled “Questionnaire on Students’ Perception of Examination Malpractice” was administered on all the 80 SSS111 boys from the purposively selected school, followed by a guidance talk titled “Sensitization of Students on Dangers of Examination Malpractice” for two days and the posttest was given thereafter. Two hypotheses were generated and tested to measure the effectiveness of the training on the perception of the students towards examination malpractice. The statistical analysis was done using t-test and multiple regression tools for the two hypotheses respectively. It also examined the dimension of school preparedness for emergency management based on school ownership and identified the challenges militating against the effective emergency management in the state. The study sample consisted of 30 head-teachers and 150 teachers of primary schools in the state. With the use of a questionnaire on emergency preparedness for data collection, it was found that there was there was a slightly better level (51.1%) of emergency preparedness in public primary schools compared to private (48.9%). However, common challenges militating against effective emergency management were “inadequate facilities (RSI = 0.732),” “limited financial resources (RSI = 0.729),” and “lack of emergency management plan (RSI = 0.707).” The study concluded that efforts of school ownerships for the management of emergency such as COVID-19 are still lingering. Design: The study employed a survey design method. Place and Duration of Study: The study was carried out in the Department of Educational Foundations and Counselling, Faculty of Education, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, between August 2019 and February 2020. Methodology: A sample of 1600 tertiary institution students (690 male, 910 female; age range 15-38 years) was selected using proportionate stratified sampling technique from four (two public and two private) institutions. Data were collected with the use of Leibowitz Social Anxiety Scale. Results: Of 1600 students sampled, 0.5% had no symptom of social anxiety while 10.3%, 76.4%, and 12.8% exhibited mild, moderate and severe levels of social anxiety.
