Based on the case of a historical Russian plant names database, the authors offer applied solutions for such projects, including an originally developed adapter for transitioning data from Django to Wikibase. The adapter allows utilising the advantages of the Django framework and Wikidata infrastructure, preventing the data format from becoming obsolete and making queries more flexible with SPARQL.

П. Погодина, № 1655 и Основное собрание, O.XVI.1. Построенная на основе более ранних словарных сводов в середине XVI в., она имеет отчасти сходное содержание с другими лексиконами переходного этапа, однако отличается порядком следования некоторых статей. Предполагается, что перестановка cловарных статей была произведена сознательно с целью реализовать тематический принцип при их организации.

We take an initial use case of red in connection with emotions (anger) and look at its roots across different European languages, including Russian. Our data model offers the possibility of connecting these fields in the context of digital lexicography using markup for etymological information with description standards like ONTOLEX or TEI. This is particularly relevant for using and displaying such data on the European Dictionary Portal, potentially offering access to detailed diachronic and synchronic lexicographic knowledge across a variety of languages.

During the project “Russian phytonyms in diachronic aspect (11th–17th c.)” (2017–2020), the PhytoLex database was created, which contains plant names recorded in Russian texts of the 11th–17th centuries. The population of the database was accompanied by research work devoted to various issues relating to the representation of plant names in the Russian language in general, and in particular in relation to some specific genres: herbals, documents of the Apothecary Chancery, business documents, church literature and lexicons. Some earlier unknown plant names were identified. These database materials will be the basis for the dictionary of Old Russian plant names, draft word entries for which have been compiled. Technical solutions will be used during the creation of a further database representing plant names recorded in later periods of the Russian language.

The idea to use computer techniques in Russian neology appeared in 2013, but only recently has the Russian Academic Neography information retrieval resource been created. It represents both published dictionaries (annual, decadal and thirty-year dictionaries), which include about 116,000 words and collocations that had not been registered by normative explanatory dictionaries of the Russian language, and new materials that were not included in published volumes or that are being prepared for publication. Simple and advanced types of search give an opportunity to find words by various parameters (word, word component, year or time period, labels, etc.). It is also intended to include chronological and frequency parameters in the future. The aim of the Russian Academic Neography information retrieval resource is to represent the newest Russian vocabulary and to make it available...
Aligning senses across resources and languages is a challenging task with beneficial applications... more Aligning senses across resources and languages is a challenging task with beneficial applications in the field of natural language processing and electronic lexicography. In this paper, we describe our efforts in manually aligning monolingual dictionaries. The alignment is carried out at sense-level for various resources in 15 languages. Moreover, senses are annotated with possible semantic relationships such as broadness, narrowness, relatedness, and equivalence. In comparison to previous datasets for this task, this dataset covers a wide range of languages and resources and focuses on the more challenging task of linking general-purpose language. We believe that our data will pave the way for further advances in alignment and evaluation of word senses by creating new solutions, particularly those notoriously requiring data such as neural networks. Our resources are publicly available at https://github.com/elexis-eu/MWSA.

Being created on the basis of the PhytoLex Russian plant names database, it will include the majority of the data represented there. The dictionary is going to be compiled in Lexonomy using XML for the data modeling, which means that the first issue for the compilers is to develop an appropriate XML model, following TEI recommendations. The first part of the dictionary will represent Old Russian words and their meanings and will contain such types of information as forms, gender, phonological and orthographic variants, etymology, definition(s), illustrations with quotations and information about their sources. Additional materials may contain geodata (places of growth and trade), functions of the plant (medicinal, magical, religious, etc.), contextual usage (e.g. metaphorical), synonyms, derivatives, and pictures (if available). The second part will give the opportunity to find all the names of a particular plant recorded in the Russian language from the 11th to the 17th century, which can be quite numerous. The electronic format of the dictionary allows several people to work simultaneously, which is very important in a joint project. It also helps with representing new data in real time and easily preparing printed versions if needed. The dictionary is intended to be an open
resource, useful for both ethnobotanists and specialists in the Slavic historical lexicology. It will also become the basis for research into the later periods of the Russian language.

В азбуковник Давида Замарая впервые были включены некоторые термины из Грамматики Мелетия Смотрицкого; в последующих редакциях количество словарных статей на основе грамматики было увеличено за счет транслитерированных греческих лексем с переводом на русский язык.
The first lexicographical compilations of the 17th century intensively used grammar works as additional materials and as a source of the word entries. David Zamaray was the first compiler who included some terms from the "Slavonic Grammar with Correct Syntax" by Meletius Smotritsky. In later editions, the amount of word entries based on the Grammar increased due to transliterated Greek words supplied with Russian translation.

This research includes such fields as lexemes and denotata, the time and place of writing manuscripts, and their authorship, source languages, etc., and it allows searching by these parameters and a number of others. Statistical analysis of the results can help to determine important aspects in the history of phytonyms in the Russian language, including the ways of borrowing foreign phytonyms, changes in naming the same plant, development of symbolism, and the binding of different classes of phytonyms to various genres. The technical implementation of PhytoLex includes data modeling, creation and normalization of controlled vocabularies following the SKOS (https://www.w3.org/TR/skos-reference/) standard, the development of database and web applications for the project's data curators and anonymous, and visualizations of available geographical data. The project also aims to integrate PhytoLex resources with such open access resources as Geonames (http://www.geonames.org/, for georeferencing places mentioned in manuscripts) and Catalogue of Life (http://www.catalogueoflife.org/, for scientific name reference). The primary goal of PhytoLex is to collect and harmonize data from multiple resources in order to make it available for exploration and analysis, and to provide access for further research and reuse.

Some words having functioned as foreign words from one language were loaned later from another one and as a result acquired different pronunciation and meaning. Later they could change their meaning during the process of the semantic development in the Russian language. Analysing word entries from the Russian handwritten lexicons of the 17th century help us to trace the history of some loaned Russian words and to know more about their phonetical and semantic fluctuations.

ERC Starting Grant «Ethnobotany of divided generations in the context of centralization».

Особая задача издания связана с представлением культурно-исторического фона диалектных слов, что делает Словарь памятником русской народной культуры. Для языковедов, историков, фольклористов, этнографов и всех, кто любит и ценит родное слово.
