But it contributes to generating a large amount of total dissolved solids (TDS) and increasing the salinity of water during leather processing which is a threat to the environment. The current research is an attempt to preserve goat skin using mahogany (Swietenia mahogany) seed’s extract. In real practice different percentages of mahogany seed extract were applied on raw goat skin and 3% (by weight of skin) of it showed best result. To evaluate the preservation efficiency, related parameters of preservation viz. odor, hair slip, shrinkage temperature, moisture content, bacterial count etc. were monitored regularly for 30 days. The obtained results were compared with conventional salt curing process. The experimental trial showed efficiency in lessening TDS value and chloride content. The preserved goat skins of both trials were treated following conventional leath...

A huge amount of basic chromium sulfate (BCS) is used in leather tanning. About 60–70% of BCS has been taken by leather and the rest of the amount is discharged as effluent and solid waste. In the Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) of BSCIC Tannery Industrial Estate (Hemayetpur, Savar, Dhaka), the effluent which contained a high concentration of chromium is precipitated as solid chromium hydroxide with other elements which is called a chrome cake. Chrome cake is not exposed directly in the open space due to its toxic effect on human health as well as the environment. Human occupational experience distinctly indicates that, when inhaled, chromium compounds are respiratory tract irritants, resulting in airway irritation, airway obstruction, and lung, nasal, or sinus cancer. It is strongly suggested to extract Cr from the chrome cake before dumping it; otherwise, it will be a potential hazard to the environment. Herein, the chrome c...

Research paper thumbnail of Extract of Trema Orientalis (L.) Stem Bark: A Potential Source of Environmentally Friendly Tanning Agent for Leather Industry

Journal of the American Leather Chemists Association

Researchers around the world are in continuous endeavor to develop environment friendly tanning a... more Researchers around the world are in continuous endeavor to develop environment friendly tanning agent due to adverse effect of conventionally used chromium during leather tanning. Recent trend of tanning is thus heading to chrome-free and greener chemical processing options. Vegetable tanning is an exoteric leather processing technique because of their lower pollution load on the environment. Considering the inadequacy and high costing for the commercialized tannins, development of alternative tannins from locally available plants and their characterizations are important. In this research, the stem barks of Trema Orientalis (L.) were extracted at different temperatures employing water solvent with or without additives (sodium hydroxide or sodium sulphite) to attain phenolic-rich extractives. To ascertain appropriateness as a vegetable tanning agent, the obtained extracts were thereafter characterized in respect to yield, total phenolic content, tannin content and molecular structur...

Both etymologically, epistemology, historical and applicative methods as interpretations of the al-Qur’an.Ta'wil is the most important part in understanding the Qur'an, while hermeneutics is a tool to interpret and understand the bible. By prioritizing hermeneutics in the interpretation of the al-Qur’an is not able to reach what is revealed by Allah in the Qur'an. Because hermeneutics is not a perfect method applicable if forced to the Qur'an that the original source of Allah SWT, with a language so have a high level of literary taste. Match between ta'wil and hermeneutics is not appropriate, because both come from different sources. And is ultimately resulting in the quality of the interpretation is different

These two major groups of countries that are often opposed, including in terms of the economic system implemented in both groups of countries. Since it is argued that Islamic nations apply a specific system of financial in the economy, namely the Islamic financial system, hence this research investigated the effect of both group nations (Islamic or non-Islamic) comparatively to the economy. The research method used in this research is quantitative approach by using statistical analysis, multiple linear regression, as the method of data analysis, in order to obtain results that can be drawn conclusions as a result in this study. Based on the findings, it can be concluded that education has a positive and significant impact to the economy, as an input of civilization, although there are no different econ...

American Scientific Research Journal for Engineering, Technology, and Sciences, 2017

The aspect of dyeing leather without hampering the environment and human health is burning issue ... more The aspect of dyeing leather without hampering the environment and human health is burning issue since the last century. This study was an endeavor to introduce a convenient natural dye from the insect of Cocus Lacca for dyeing leather in an eco-friendly way. The effect of process parameters of dyeing viz. pH, temperature, time duration, exhaustion of color, shade brightness, color fastness etc. had been studied. Result showed that the optimum extraction was 4% at 90°C. The pH of the developed dye was 6.5 and optimum time of dye exhaustion was 80 minutes. The extracted dye was applied on split leather with and without mordant. It was found that mordant has a significant effect on the color of leather. Ferrous Sulfate (FeSO4) mordant showed more excellence. Future research on the same field using different extraction methods, different mordants, and mordanting methods will optimize the results of the current study.

The paper attempted to discuss on the impact on the education system in the Industrial Revolution... more The paper attempted to discuss on the impact on the education system in the Industrial Revolution 4.0 era (IR 4.0). The IR 4.0 has changed the technological innovation environment in which it is controlled by artificial intelligence and digital physical frameworks which make interface between humans and machines more universal. Innovation’s rapid revolution has provided another education model for the future (Education 4.0). In order to prepare graduates for future life and work accomplished through IR 4.0 where more smart robots will replace people in certain divisions of service or jobs, education should leverage relevant information and expertise that could not be replaced by robots. Innovation interruption that creates Education 4.0 based on educational growth and skills has made future learning more custom, hyper, smarter, flexible, worldwide and interactive. As cutting edge educators, to improve future learning, we need to explore new and creative approaches to using educational creativity. In this regard, this introduction hypothesizes the necessity that teachers re-examine their old teaching and learning originations, and update or upgrade the learning experiences of their understudies so that they meet the requirements of Education 4.0.
