This research aimed to investigate whether online problem based learning (PBL) approach to teach ... more This research aimed to investigate whether online problem based learning (PBL) approach to teach renewable energy topic improves students' behaviour towards energy conservation. A renewable energy online problem based learning (REePBaL) instruction package was developed based on the theory of constructivism and adaptation of the online learning model. This study employed a single group quasi-experimental design to ascertain the changed in students' behaviour towards energy conservation after underwent the intervention. The study involved 48 secondary school students in a Malaysian public school. ANOVA Repeated Measure technique was employed in order to compare scores of students' behaviour towards energy conservation before and after the intervention. Based on the finding, students' behaviour towards energy conservation improved after the intervention.

ABSTRACT Blast caused by the fungus Magnaporthae grisea (Herbert) Borr. (anamorphe Pyricularia or... more ABSTRACT Blast caused by the fungus Magnaporthae grisea (Herbert) Borr. (anamorphe Pyricularia oryza Cav.) is a serious disease of rice (Oryza sativa L.). One method to overcome this disease is to develop disease resistant cultivars. Due to the genetic plasticity in the pathogen genome, there is a continuous threat to the effectiveness of the developed cultivars. Additional studies of the genetics of resistance, virulence stability and functional genomics are required to accelerate research into understanding the molecular basis of blast disease resistance. In this study, individual plants of the F3 population derived from Pongsu Seribu 2 and Mahsuri were used for pathogenesis assays and inheritance studies of blast resistance. The study was performed with two of the most virulent Malaysian M. grisea pathotypes: P7.2 and P5.0. For blast screening, plants were scored based on the IRRI Standard Evaluation System (SES). F3 populations showed a segregation ratio of 3R:1S for pathotype P7.2, indicating that resistance to this pathotype is likely controlled by a single nuclear gene. Chi-square analysis showed that the F3 families segregated in a 15R:1S ratio for pathotype P5.0. Therefore, locus interactions or epitasis of blast resistance occur against pathotype P5.0 in the F3 population derived from Pongsu Seribu 2 and Mahsuri. This can be explained by the presence of two independent dominant genes that when present simultaneously, provide resistance to the M. gresia pathotype P5.0. These results indicated that blast resistance in rice is due to the combined effects of multiple loci with major and minor effects. The genetic data generated here will be useful in the breeding of local cultivars for resistance to field blast. The methodology reported here will facilitate the mapping of genes and quantitative trait loci (QTLs) underlying the blast resistance trait.

(perennial ryegrass), and Lolium multiflorum Lam. (annual or Italian ryegrass), differ in several traits related to seed yield. Generally, L. multiflorum spikes are larger than L. perenne spikes, and have more spikelets, more florets per spikelet, larger seeds and awns. The greater number of spikelets and florets and larger seeds are associated with higher seed yield in L. multiflorum. Ryegrass (Lolium sp.) cultivars are produced by seed multiplication and understanding the genetics of seed production traits would aid in plant improvement. A total of 30 QTL for seed production related traits were identified in this study. The QTLs were primarily located on linkage groups 2 and 4 which appear to be the most important for distinguishing L. multiflorum and L. perenne. These QTL will be used to develop molecular markers for marker-assisted breeding and screening of L. perenne seed lots to detect seed contamination with L. multiflorum.

Kesihatan fizikal bagi ketua negara bermaksud sejahtera (sihat) panca indera dan sempurna anggota badan dari kecacatan yang boleh mendatangkan kesan terhadap cara berfikir dan bekerja. Kajian kualitatif yang sepenuhnya menggunakan metode keperpustakaan dan dokumentasi ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif. Hasil kajian mendapati bahawa majoriti ulama telah menyenaraikan syarat kesihatan fizikal bagi ketua negara dengan menggunakan istilah salamah al-a’ada wa al-hawas (sejahtera anggota tubuh dan panca indera) atau kifayah al-ajsam (sempurna anggota badan). This article is a qualitative study using library research and related documents, analyzed using ... more This article is a qualitative study using library research and related documents, analyzed using the descriptive method. The study found that the majority of scholars list the physical health requirements for a head of state as salāmah al-hawās wa al-a'dā (mentally and physically healthy) or kifāyah al-ajsām (perfect body). This indicates their agreement on the importance of health requirements for candidates for head of state. However, some scholars do not list health as a requirement, considering it unimportant, because what is important is that the head of state has leadership capability and intellectual intelligence. Therefore, health is considered by some scholars to be a requirement whose suitability is disputed while some scholars put it as a requirement for completeness. This difference in opinion has created an opportunity to review the situation and obtain the best opinion based on the needs and realities of local politics.
