As the cloud computing paradigm presents a shared management vision, it is important that security requirements are addressed inside the Service Level Agreements (SLAs) established between cloud providers and consumers, along with the tools and mechanisms necessary to deal with these requirements. This work aims at proposing a framework to orchestrate the management of cloud services and security mechanisms based on the security requirements defined by a SLA, in an automated manner, throughout their lifecycles. In addition, the integration of the framework with a cloud computing solution is presented, in order to demonstrate and validate the framework support throughout SLAs lifecycle phases.

One of the fruitful investigations in transistor research is I-V characteristics by using proper bias voltage, in presence of capacitance. In this paper, we will observe the I-V characteristics of Armchair Graphene Nanoribbon (AGNR) by considering the quantum as well as the classical capacitance for two different sizes of AGNR which are 5.04nm and 10.20nm. These two cases will eventually help us concluding a valuable decision in sub-10 nm range based device analysis.

This is mainly due to the convincing revolution in power electronic technology and the growing concern about greenhouse effect that is intensified due to the burning of fossil fuels. Variable-speed wind energy conversion systems (WECSs) such as doubly fed induction generators (DFIGs) are dominating the wind energy market due to their superior advantages over fixed-speed-based WECS which include more captured energy, less mechanical stress, and acoustical noise. DFIG is interfaced to the ac network through the grid-side voltage source converter (VSC) and rotor-side VSC to enable the variable-speed operation of the wind turbine and to provide reactive power support to the ac grid during disturbance events. Converter switching malfunction such as misfire and fire-through may influence the power dispatch capability of the DFIG. In this paper, a superconducting magnetic energy storage...

Therefore, early detection, tracking, and testing the depth of carious lesion may be lifesaving. In this paper, a carious detection method has been presented, and the volume of caries has been investigated. We have applied K-means clustering and threshold method for segmentation and utilized Computed Tomography (CT) images in order to construct the three-dimensional view of the carious lesion which is an integral part of the diagnosis of dental cavity. Result shows that the average Peak Signal-to-Noise Ratio (PSNR) has been obtained 19.98 and 20 by applying K-means clustering and threshold method respectively along with satisfactory visual interpretation of the three-dimensional structure of dental carries. This contribution can be applied for several other medical detection purposes with a slight adjustment.

However, the MFMs lack effective peripheral seal, leading to concerns about their adequacy to block aerosol exposure for proper protection. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the peripheral seal of level 3 and level 2 MFMs with a 3-dimensional (3D-) printed custom frame. Methods Level 3 and level 2 MFMs were tested on 10 participants with and without a 3D-printed custom frame; the efficiency of mask peripheral seal was determined by means of quantitative fit testing using a PortaCount Fit Tester based on ambient aerosol condensation nuclei counter protocol. Results The 3D-printed custom frame significantly improved the peripheral seal of both level 3 and level 2 MFMs compared with the masks alone (P < .001). In addition, both level 3 and level 2 MFMs with the 3D-printed custom frame met the quantitative fit testing standard specified for N95 respirators. Practical Implications The 3D-printed custom frame over level 3 and level 2 MFMs can offer enhanced peripheral reduction of aerosols when using collapsible masks. With the shortage of N95 respirators, using the 3D-printed custom frame over a level 3 or level 2 MFM is considered a practical alternative to dental professionals.

To this end, the angle of arrival (AoA) and time of flight (ToF) for all dominant multipath components need to be estimated. A two-dimensional (2D) version of the multiple signal classification (MUSIC) algorithm has been shown to solve this problem using 2D grid search, which is computationally expensive and is therefore not suited for real-time localisation. In this paper, we propose using a modified matrix pencil (MMP) algorithm instead. Specifically, we show that the AoA and ToF estimates can be found independently of each other using the one-dimensional (1D) MMP algorithm and the results can be accurately paired to obtain the AoA-ToF pairs for all multipath components. Thus, the 2D estimation problem reduces to running 1D estimation multiple times, substantially reducing the computational complexity. We identify and resolve the problem of degenerate performance when two or more multipath components have the same AoA. In addition, we propose a packet aggregation model that uses the CSI data from multiple packets to improve the performance under noisy conditions. Simulation results show that our algorithm achieves two orders of magnitude reduction in the computational time over the 2D MUSIC algorithm while achieving similar accuracy. High accuracy and low computation complexity of our approach make it suitable for applications that require location estimation to run on resource-constrained embedded devices in real time.

The presence of sulphur in crude oil poses enormous challenges as regards its negative environmen... more The presence of sulphur in crude oil poses enormous challenges as regards its negative environmental and economic impacts. As such, the safety of the personnel and the equipment is at high risk during the processing of Urals crude oil in Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC) because of its sour nature. This study was aimed at reducing the sulphur content of the Urals crude oil prior to processing by subjecting it to oxidative desulphurization where peracetic acid was used as the oxidant in the actual mass-to-stoichiometric mass ratio ranging from 1 to 5. The oxidized sulphur compounds were thereafter extracted using acetic acid as the extraction solvent. Furthermore, atmospheric distillation was carried out on both the raw and the desulphurized crude oil samples. Finally, the sulphur contents of the various crude oil samples and their fractions were analyzed. The results showed drastic reductions in the sulphur contents up to actual mass-to-stoichiometric mass ratio of 2 but the reductions became progressively insignificant afterwards. Meanwhile, the highest reduction in the sulphur content of the crude oil was 61.6 % while those of the gasoline, kerosene, diesel and residue were 32.0, 45.1, 68.9 and 75.0 % respectively. Therefore, peracetic acid is an effective oxidant for oxidative desulphurization of the crude oil.

We carried out our calculations with a full-potential linearized augmented plane wave scheme based on density function theory. The valuable features such as, the band structure, density of states, and optical absorption are computed to explore the role of substitution by B and N atoms in graphene systems. Interestingly, the band structure calculations illustrate that the substitution of B atoms in graphene monolayers shifts the Dirac point upward to the Femi level; the substitution of N atoms has an opposite effect. Upon the doping with nitrogen or boron, n-type or p-type semiconducting would be obtained. Our results are in consensus with the available previous theoretical and experimental determinations. The optical absorption spectra are found to vary dramatically with doping concentration and the supercell size of graphene. Importantly, it is plausible to tailor the electronic properties of doped graphene sheets and attain reasonable results for various electronic nanodevice applications. This characteristic is due to the exceptional electronic structure and unique properties of two-dimensional graphene.

Composites were prepared using hot press molding technique by varying jute fiber loading (5, 10, 15 and 20 wt.%) for both treated and untreated fibers. Raw jute fibers were chemically treated with benzene diazonium salt to increase their compatibility with the polyethylene matrix. Physical and mechanical properties were subsequently characterized. Tensile test was conducted for mechanical characterization as well as optimization of fiber content. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) analysis was utilized to study surface morphology. It was observed that at 15 wt.% fiber content, composites exhibited the highest tensile properties. FTIR and SEM study showed better interfacial interaction between treated jute fiber and polyethylene matrix than raw one.

Security issues of cloud computing environments are considered a major challenge for its full ado... more Security issues of cloud computing environments are considered a major challenge for its full adoption. A Service Level Agreement (SLA) corroborates the shared management vision provided by the cloud computing paradigm, which can assist with related security issues. The necessity to address security requirements in cloud computing SLAs is considered important for both providers and consumers, along with the tools and mechanisms necessary to deal with these requirements. These issues are current research challenges; therefore, this paper aims at proposing a framework to orchestrate the management of cloud services based on security requirements defined by the SLA in an automated manner during its entire lifecycle. In addition, mechanisms to support the phases of the SLA lifecycle are proposed as a part of the framework. also the preliminary validation of the proposed framework. Finally, it is presented the integration of the framework with a cloud solution and in what manner the SLA lifecycle is supported by the framework.

Based on first-principles calculations, we explored the electronic and optical characteristics of... more Based on first-principles calculations, we explored the electronic and optical characteristics of undoped and doped graphene sheets with boron (B) and nitrogen (N) atoms.

ABSTRACT The surface morphology of chemically treated jute fiber reinforced polyethylene composit... more ABSTRACT The surface morphology of chemically treated jute fiber reinforced polyethylene composites was investigated.
