In this paper, the current status of research and development in the field of Dickson charge pump is extensively reviewed. Dickson charge pump is inductor-less DC to DC converter which uses a capacitor for its energy storage. The aim of this paper is to compare various techniques of Dickson charge pump currently explored in industry and academia. The parameters especially efficiency and voltage are compared. We have also discussed and evaluated the optimised criteria of capacitor sizing according to clock signals provided such that the charge pump performance could be properly optimised. We have simulated the transient response of DCP and provided the comprehensive study.

Ayurveda or traditional Indian medicine (TIM) is making dramatic, or Indian system of medicine(IS... more Ayurveda or traditional Indian medicine (TIM) is making dramatic, or Indian system of medicine(ISM), come back. Market studies and papers published in peer-reviewed journals back the revival of TIM in India. According to one estimate, 3000 branded Ayurvedic products are available in Indian market. Ayurvedic drugs worth 6,000 crore are manufactured annually in India, of which 1,500 crore are exported. TIM has not made advances as compared to traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) but therapeutic potential of TIM or ISM can't be ruled out. Traditional systems of medicine, irrespective of the country of origin, have faced stiff resistance from the conventional pharmaceutical industry. Recently in, attempt was made to introduce curriculum of TIM in medical colleges but the proposal was strongly declined by the medical fraternity. Medicinal plants are screened for investigational drugs and several therapeutically important drugs have been extracted. Results of studies published in indexed journals like journal of Ethno pharmacology, Journal of Natural Products, Planta Medica and Fitoterapia favor used of plant based remedies in clinical practice.

According to one estimate, 850 medicinal plants are used in Ayurveda, the Traditional Indian Medicine (TIM). If history of Ayurvedic system is explored, it can be seen that during the Vedic period, the mode of study was oral communication. Later on several texts (samhita) including Charaka Samhita, Sushruta samhita, Agnivesha samhita, Bhela samhita, Prashara samhita, and Kashyapa samhita were composed. Laghupanchmula: It is combination of roots of five medicinal plants including Shalaparni (Desmodium gangeticum), Prishparni (Uraria picta), Brahati (Solanum indicum), Kantkari (Solanum xanthocarpum), and Gokshura (Tribulus terrestris). Dashmula: It is combination of roots of ten medicinal plants including Bilva (Aegle marmelos), Agnimantha (Premna integrifolia), Shoynaka (Oroxylum indicum), Gambhari (Gmelina arborea), Patla (Sterospermum suaveolens), Shalaparni (Desmodium gangeticum), Prishnaparni (Uraria picta), Brahati (Solanum indicum), Kantkari (Solanum xanthocarpum), and Gokshura (Tribulus terrestris). Triphala: It is combination of fruits of three medicinal plants including Haritaki (Terminalia chebula), Vibithaka (Terminalia belerica), and Amalaki (Emblica officinalis). Trimada: It is combination of three medicinal plants including Vidanga (Embelia ribes), Nagarmotha (Cyperus rotundus), and Chitraka (Plumbago rosea or P. zeylanica). Trikatu: It is combination of three medicinal plants including Pipali (Piper longum), Maricha (Piper nigrum) and Sunthi (Zingiber officinale). Chaturushana: It is combination of Trikatu and Pipalimoola (roots of Piper longum). Panchakola: It is combination of five medicinal plants including Pipali (Piper longum), Pipalimoola (roots of Piper longum), Chavya (Piper chaba), Chitraka (Plumbago rosea or P. zeylanica) and Sunthi (Zingiber officinale).

As a component of this, Ayurvedic or phytopharmacy instruction was also surveyed. In a 78 percent response (60/77) response rate, it as noted that 74 percent (n=57) of the schools offered at least one course addressing traditional medicine, phytomedicine or phytopharmacy. Twenty-five schools indicated the topic was not addressed in the curriculum. Three schools indicated future strategies to introduce course addressing traditional medicine. Only five colleges were found to maintain traditional medicine or related courses. The average year of discontinuation of course was 1996 due to lack of qualified faculty and merger of the subject with pharmacognosy. Some of the colleges offered TM course as an elective subject and two institutions provided course by distance education mode. With renaissance of the traditional medicine, we need to introduce specialized course in the subject and this needs to be addressed in uniform manner in all colleges of pharmacy.

Today we can witness explosive growth of herbal drug industry. Standardized herbal extracts and phytochemicals are in high demand for applied research as well as commercial use. (Convolvulaceae) is used as nootropic or brain-tonic in traditional systems of medicine like Ayurveda and Unani. The plant is used by certain ethnic races across India, Africa and Philippines to cure fever, cough and cold, venereal diseases, azoospermia, adenitis, and depression. Pre-clinical (in vivo and vitro) investigations have demonstrated anti-amnesic, antistress (adaptogenic), antimicrobial and gastro protective activity.

Some secondary products discourage herbivores; others inhibit bacterial or fungal pathogens. Active principles in medicinal plants may affect health, but are not-essential nutrients as our diet does not require them to sustain life in the same way as vitamins and minerals.
