Health is one of the key areas for digitalization, where the benefits of using big data are obvious. New technologies are often а basis for modernizing national health systems for they make possible to ensure availability of various medical services for different groups of population. Lupton analyzes both the benefits and risks of digitalization in this area, thereby highlighting the ambivalent character of the ongoing changes. She believes that it is necessary to recognize the interaction not only between people, but also between people and digital technologies. These new relationships form a new social reality. The Australian sociologist focuses her attention on new opportunities due to digitalization which can improve people's lives. From her point of view, the "concept of fear" still dominant in social research of digital technolo...

At the center of the authors' interests is Moscow — the largest urban agglomeration in Russia with its social and environmental problems. Based on the latest statistical data, the current particularities of the Moscow agglomeration growth and its dynamics (both territorial and population) are analyzed. In addition, using foreign experience, an attempt is made to predict the future of Russian capital’s residents in conditions of further hypertrophied growth. Paying attention to the positive aspects of urbanization, researchers express concern about its negative consequences, such as environmental problems and, as a result, worsening health among the population, congestion contributing to the rapid spread of diseases, lack of the necessary social infrastructure, the development of which does not keep up with the city's development, the growth of crime, ethno cultural conflicts, problems of social inequality and social tension, asymmetric urban settlement, etc. Based on foreign experience in the development of world megalopolises, the authors highlight and describe three blocks of problems that give rise to the process of hypertrophied growth of urban spaces: social inequality, ecology and deterioration of public health; the growth of migration flows and the ghettoization of urban areas. The article concludes that there is a need for a balanced assessment of the main risks and benefits standing behind the rapid growth of the metropolitan agglomeration and the mandatory regulation of this process in the Russian Federation.

The author points out that this term, which reflects one of the topical areas of scientific discourse, has been involved into the studies relatively recently, up the second half of the XXth century. It has became the subject under study when scientific interest to the health problems was started among researchers. Based on their typology, this study shows that social inequality in health is considered as a complex phenomenon determined by various factors, which are considered as key causes of differences in health status among the population. Taking this argument into consideration, the author proposes an integrative appro...

These reforms are motivated by the whole transformation of medicine as a social institute. As it showed by the numerous studies, under the process of the globalization and new technologies the clinical practice has been changed. The high technologies in medicine have incorporated new trends in practice and lead to use exactly hard evidence for diagnosis and treatment. But spending on new health technology increases healthcare costs. Now the main trend is the standardization of practice, that is relied on evidence-based medicine as it reduces costs. The great damage to the physician-patient relationship in these movements is that the patient is considered secondary, without attention to his individual characteristics and needs. It ignores the individuality and leads to the uniformity. It affects the doctor-patient relationship. As it well known, trust is a keystone of effective docto...

The growth of most modern cities was associated with the industrial stage in their development, however, the transition to the postindustrial phase of society’s development in the second half of the 20th century led to the deindustrialization of urban development. During this period, the problem of the influence of industrial enterprises on the state of the environment and the health of the population becomes urgent, one of the solutions is locating industry outside of large settlements. The implementation of a sustainable development program adopted by member states of the United Nations provides for solving problems of improving the environmental situation in modern cities in order to improve the health of their inhabitants and, as a result, reduce the burden on health systems. According to WHO, environmental pollution (air, water, soil) is a key fa...

Most of experts note a positive trend in the state of the patients, which were made an operational intervention in the 1st day. However, according to data of foreign research, indices of the quality of life in such patients in the postoperative period to a large extent depend also on demographic, medical and social factors which fail to be adjusted in the course of early surgical intervention. Therefore, for the rational and effective from the point of the assessment of the quality of life, the use of active surgical tactics in the treatment of patients of the elderly age group with fractures of the proximal femur, as well as reducing the legal risks, it is necessary to take into account the factors identified both during the operational stage and in the postoperative period during the implementation of rehabilitation measures.

As it is pointed out by the author, nowadays sociology of medicine is an actual scientific course about social aspects of health and illness, medicine as a social structure. The modern city is largely the result of the accelerated development of industry in the XIX - early XX centuries, however, the transition to the postindustrial phase of the development of society, which begins in the second half of the XX century, leads to deindustrialization of urban development. One of the trends of modern urban planning is the reconstruction of industrial zones which is carried out in the form of their adaptive reuse, which avoids many of the costs associated with their radical restructuring, although such a path is not always possible. According to opinions of the authors, the appeal to the idea of adaptive reuse becomes one of the means of revitalizing the urban landscape and, as a result, urban life.
